Top Performing Setters and Right Sides: Nevada Freshman Showcase

Avery Olguin earned Top Performer at the Nevada Freshman Showcase, August 8, 2026.   Avery plays with a level of focus that stands out on the right side. She is able to hit any ball regardless of the set, which shows real adaptability in a position that often gets imperfect sets. That ability to attack from any look led to what can only be described as right side domination throughout the day. She stays locked in point to point, not letting a bad swing or a tough set throw off her focus. Her combination of focus and shot versatility makes her a tough matchup for opposing blockers.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Charley Archambeault earned Top Performer at the Nevada Freshman Showcase, August 8, 2026.   Charley sets with strong, clean hands that give her hitters a consistent look to attack. Her footwork is fast, which lets her get to the ball early and set from a stable base. She shows great fundamentals across the board, with a clean wrist flick that adds touch to her sets. Her hands are smooth, almost buttery, and she backs that up with strong back sets when the offense calls for them. Hailey shows the tools of a strong hitter with solid fundamentals, snapping her wrist through contact to add pop to her shots. She hustles on every play and brings an aggressive edge to her game as she continues transitioning from middle to right side. It is clear she has been putting in real work to make the position move stick. She shows up for every block and reacts quickly to whatever the play calls for. Peyton sets with great footwork that gets her into position early and keeps her sets consistent. Her hands are soft, which gives her sets a touch that hitters can easily time up. She is very talented with her push and delivery, showing more polish in her mechanics than a lot of setters her age. She touches on communication constantly, keeping her hitters informed and involved throughout the match. Her ability to lift up her teammates stood out as much as her hands did, and that combination makes her a setter coaches will want to watch.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Charlotte Slanker earned Top Performer at the Nevada Freshman Showcase, August 8, 2026.   Charlotte's court communication is excellent, and she uses her voice to keep her team organized throughout the showcase. She plays with strong fundamentals and a clean delivery on her sets, giving her hitters a consistent target. Her hands are nice, adding touch and placement to sets that make life easier for her attackers. She stays encouraging with her teammates, building them up rather than getting rattled by mistakes. She moves very well on the court, which lets her get to tough balls and still deliver a clean set.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Zaaliyah Feltus earned Top Performer at the Nevada Freshman Showcase, August 8, 2026.   Zaaliyah is committed to her craft, and that shows in how she approaches every rep. She is actually an eighth grader who has already been showcasing for a while, which speaks to her early commitment to the recruiting process. Her mechanics are building, but she makes up for it with hustle and effort on every play. She brings a great platform to the position, giving her a strong base to build her setting technique around. Reese stays communicative on the court, keeping her teammates informed throughout the showcase. Her serving was on point, putting pressure on opposing passers and setting her team up defensively. She plays aggressive on the right side, attacking with intent rather than settling for safe shots. That aggressiveness shows up in how she approaches every ball, always looking to put her opponent on the defensive. Grace brings an upbeat energy to the court that is hard to miss. She talks constantly during play, staying vocal and engaged with her teammates throughout the showcase. She cheers on her teammates no matter the situation, bringing positive energy that lifts the team around her. She gives her best effort on every play and competes at 100 percent regardless of the score.
