NEXT SET UP: Class of 2028 Setters to Watch

<p>The Class of 2028 setter group keeps getting deeper!</p>   <p>We already have some familiar names making noise in the rankings, but there are more setters giving us plenty of reasons to keep watching. This group brings different styles to the position, from versatile athletes who can impact every phase of the game to setters who are beginning to take more ownership of their offenses.</p>   <p>For setters, the job is about much more than putting up assists. Reading the court, managing tempo, recognizing the hot hand, and making the right decision when a play breaks down are all part of the evaluation.</p>   <p>These five Class of 2028 setters are continuing to give us something to watch.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lila Hannemann</h2>    <p>Hannemann brings a different kind of versatility to the setter position.</p>   <p>She has the athleticism to contribute around the net and the willingness to stay involved when the rally moves away from the traditional setter responsibilities. That matters because setters have to be ready for far more than the second contact.</p>   <p>Hannemann also has a confident presence when she takes control of an offense. She understands how to keep her hitters involved while still recognizing when the play calls for something different. Her ability to defend, block, set, and compete through messy rallies gives her a broad understanding of the game. The more she continues developing each part of that skill set, the more interesting her ceiling becomes.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Joslyn Pedroso</h2>    <p>Pedroso continues to look like a setter who is becoming more comfortable taking ownership of the offense.</p>   <p>She has a nice feel for distributing the ball and does not seem afraid to make a decision when the defense gives her an opening. Her athleticism also allows her to stay involved once the second contact is gone, whether that means defending, transitioning, or helping extend the rally.</p>   <p>What stands out is the confidence behind her game. Pedroso plays with purpose and continues finding ways to make herself useful beyond simply delivering the set. There is still plenty of room for her to grow, but that is exactly what makes her a fun watch. Pedroso is developing into a more complete setter, and we will be keeping an eye on where that development takes her.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cailin Hall</h2>    <p>Hall brings a calmness to the setter position that can be extremely valuable when a match gets chaotic.</p>   <p>She does not need to force the pace. Instead, Hall takes her time, reads what is happening in front of her, and works to make the next decision a good one. That composure gives her offense a steady foundation.</p>   <p>However, her impact does not disappear when she rotates away from setting. Hall is athletic and quick enough to make plays defensively while also competing at the net. That combination of patience and athleticism gives Hall plenty of ways to influence a match. She has already shown she can handle responsibility, and her continued development makes her another setter to keep on the radar.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ainsley Adams</h2>    <p>Adams brings a strong offensive mindset to the setter position.</p>   <p>She has the ability to move the ball around and keep opposing defenses from settling into one look. Her willingness to spread the offense gives her hitters opportunities while also creating more space for the attack.</p>   <p>Adams can also become a scoring option herself when she is at the net, which adds another decision for opposing blockers. That ability to keep defenses guessing can make a setter especially difficult to game plan against. As she continues gaining experience, Adams has an opportunity to take another step as an offensive leader. She has already shown the ability to manage a significant role, and there is plenty more to watch as her game continues to develop.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kenley Rudiger</h2>    <p>Rudiger is one of those athletes who can fill whatever role her team needs.</p>   <p>Her experience as a setter gives her a strong understanding of how an offense should work, but she is just as comfortable contributing from the libero or DS spot. That versatility makes her a valuable piece because she understands the game from multiple perspectives.</p>   <p>When Rudiger is running the offense, she brings a steady presence and keeps the ball moving without making things feel rushed. Then, when she moves into the back row, her defensive instincts immediately become another asset. That ability to move between responsibilities is what makes Rudiger especially intriguing. She is not tied to one position, and that all-around skill set continues to make her a player worth tracking closely.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Next Set Up</h2>   <p>The Class of 2028 has no shortage of talented setters, and this watchlist is another reminder of just how much depth Colorado has at the position.</p>   <p>The rankings can change quickly as players develop, gain experience, and find new ways to impact matches.
