Mid Season High School Players and Teams Who Impressed

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These are some players and teams who I have had a chance to see in person! I've watched some good volleyball so far this season. I have seen some single games, varsity games, and some JV tourneys. I wanted to take some time out and give some shout outs to some teams and players I have been impressed with. One team I want to make mention of is Glenbard West High School Varsity squad. They had a really solid front line at the net and were extremely solid on serve receive and defense. Another Varsity squad that was impressive was Joliet West. They can really put the ball down on you for kills, they are athletic and keep plays alive. A JV team who I got to see win 2 tournaments was Lincoln Way East JV Squad. They got 1st place at the Minooka Tournament and the Volley-ball-ooza tourney, making them 2x Tourney Champions so far this school season. Players of note from that Lincoln Way East team are setter [player_tooltip player_id='767302' first='Gabrielle' last='Howard'], Ellie Camp, Lauren McCoy and many more as the team is just really solid all the way around. I got to see her play about a week or so ago for her school team Oswego and she can detonate from anywhere. Watched her fly in from the back row for a kill and multiple kills from the outside close to 10 foot line. She gets up and can hit down on that ball. Fun to watch has all the tools. She is a big force at the net. She is strong, gets kills and can defend at the end. She can give you all the shots as a hitter, hitting around the block, through the block, over the block, tip game, swipes you name it. She is cool calm and collected and a very good passer. Never seems in a hurry and always under control. I had the chance to watch her pass perfect pass after perfect pass. Never gets rattled and sets her teams up to get into the offense, setting multiple options. Makes plays on defense as well, if you hit it her way it will be up and playable. She can give you all the hits from that OH position. She has good timing and can hammer it on you, or tool the block when needed. Makes smart plays at the net. I've written about DiSanto before and she is there to win and compete. Good jumper and powerful. Hits the ball hard. Plays for Benet, and is on varsity as a sophomore, has a bunch of talent. Good length moves great for her size. Athletic and hits the ball extremely well. She isn't just up there swinging with all her might, she takes great swings with purpose. Has the ability to hit it hard, but can hit corners and cross court as well. Will tool the block when needed as well. She is a really good hitter out of the OH position, can beat you with power and finesse. I watched her blast a couple hits right into girls chests and even off the head, hits hard. Puts down and turns that hand wrist down for kills. I was impressed with her kills and swings when set off of the net and even out the back row. She had good accuracy with velocity on those swings. Hurts you with power and smart shots to the corners or straight down on you if no block. Good setter smart player. She has really good hands and is sneaky at the net with setter dumps and tips you don't really see coming. I was impressed with her play as a OH. She seemed to always make the right swing. If the set was there she went with power, if it was a little off the net she hit it to the correct open spot.
