3A Regional Matchups To Watch

We touched a bit on the big-time matchups for 4A yesterday. Today's edition talks about three matches where all six teams are in the top ten in 3A in the state. Here are six athletes—-one for each squad—-that will make or break their respective squad's success.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#1 Providence (25-7) v #5 Jasper (27-7)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A while back—-September 5—the Pioneers topped the Wildcats in a Saturday tournament matchup, 2-1. With length to spare and an adept understanding of both offense and defense as a ‘big', Miss Corbin is one of the few big middles in southwestern Indiana that has D1 capability AND the ability to take over a match when needed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#4 Cathedral (23-10) v #8 Northview (25-8)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These two battled not too long ago—-October 5—-with enough recency bias to infer that the five-set win by the Knights might not turn out that way this coming Saturday. I like the big arm and the even bigger presence when she plays, as every one of her 19 kills and 15 digs were needed in the Knights' win over Cathedral just a couple of weeks ago. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#9 Mishawaka Marian (25-8) v#10 West Noble (29-3)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These two did NOT meet each other this fall, yet despite their lack of familiarity, both teams look to be a mirror of each other in the offensive production department. Fast-forward to now, and Miss Boser is THE reason to watch Marian do their thing this fall, with a full junior club season PLUS next fall to watch her go to work. More of a compact ball of energy, Elyse's quick transition from pass to attack is exceptional, and her whip of a hitting arm has done its fair share of damage on many a volleyball—-and defender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
