The setter position is about so much more than getting the ball to a hitter. A good setter knows how to keep the offense moving, make adjustments when a pass is off target, and give their hitters opportunities to score. Across Colorado 3A, these five setters are doing just that, and their numbers are giving us another reason to keep them on our radar!

From high assist totals to the ability to keep opposing blockers guessing, each player brings something different to the court. Let's take a look at five setters making an impact this season!

[player_tooltip player_id='734479' first='Libby' last='Wilson'], 541 Assists, 9.7 Assists/Set

Wilson is putting up some impressive numbers this season, with 541 assists and an average of 9.7 assists per set. That kind of production says plenty about how involved she is in her team's offense. However, what makes a setter fun to follow goes beyond the total. It is also about how they manage the offense and continue creating opportunities throughout a match. Wilson has been a consistent presence in the setting column, and her assist average shows just how frequently she is connecting with her hitters. As the season continues, we will be watching how she keeps that production going and helps her offense find its rhythm. With numbers like these, Wilson has certainly earned a spot on our list!

Clara Ochser, 489 Assists, 9.2 Assists/Set

Ochser is a key leader for Platte Valley High School, and she is making that role count. With 489 assists and 9.2 assists per set, she is heavily involved in keeping the offense running. Just as importantly, she brings a competitive edge that makes her a setter worth watching. One thing that stands out is her ability to keep the offense balanced. By spreading the ball around, Ochser makes it more difficult for opposing defenses to lock in on one hitter. That unpredictability can open up opportunities across the front row. On top of that, she plays with a clear desire to compete and win. Ochser brings both production and leadership to Platte Valley, making her a name to keep following as the season rolls on!

[player_tooltip player_id='532760' first='Delaney' last='Ash'], 370 Assists, 8.6 Assists/Set

Ash brings plenty of energy to the setter position, and she is not afraid to make something happen when a play gets tricky. She has recorded 370 assists while averaging 8.6 per set, giving her team a steady offensive contributor throughout the season. Meanwhile, her ability to handle difficult passes is another piece of her game to watch. When the ball drifts too close to the net, Ash works to turn it into a hittable opportunity instead of letting the play get away. She also pushes the tempo and keeps the offense moving. Add in a strong serve that can put the other team under pressure, and Ash has multiple ways to make an impact. She brings an aggressive approach to the court, and that makes her a fun player to watch!

[player_tooltip player_id='797962' first='Reese' last='White'], 366 Assists, 7.5 Assists/Set

White has a knack for getting her middles involved, and that is one of the most interesting parts of her game. With 366 assists and 7.5 assists per set, she continues to distribute the ball while looking for opportunities throughout the offense. Rather than relying only on her pin hitters, White makes a point of using the middle. That can force opposing blockers to make quicker decisions and opens up more options for the offense. In addition, she does a nice job keeping teams guessing when she sets from pin to pin. Her ability to change the look of the offense makes her more difficult to read at the net. White brings a different approach to the setter position, and her willingness to use all of her options is something we will continue watching!

[player_tooltip player_id='1009545' first='Ashlyn' last='Rice'], 363 Assists, 7.9 Assists/Set

Rice is continuing to build on an impressive start to her high school career. After a strong freshman campaign, she is back making an impact as a sophomore, with 363 assists and an average of 7.9 per set. What stands out about Rice is how she works through different situations. When the pass is not perfect, she uses her volleyball IQ to find a workable option and keep the play alive. That ability to adjust is important for any setter, especially when the offense needs to recover quickly. Meanwhile, Rice continues to help move the ball across the court and give her hitters opportunities to score. She has already shown plenty of promise, and her continued production makes her a fun player to follow in Colorado 3A!

Setting the Tone in Colorado 3A

These five setters all bring something different to their offenses!

Of course, the stat sheet only tells part of the story. The decisions setters make, how they respond to difficult passes, and the ways they keep defenses guessing are all important pieces of the position. As the season continues, these are five names we will be keeping on our radar!

For more Colorado volleyball coverage, player features, recruiting content, rankings, and more, follow @prepdigcolorado on Instagram!
