The high school volleyball season is nearing its end and there are some teams and players who are making a name for themselves. This season has proven to be another great showing from our wonderful and amazing players. Let's take a look at some of the intriguing storylines from the Lone Star State as we head into the playoffs.

Allen Eagles (35-2)

Allen has been the standard in North Texas all season and Tuesday night was a reminder of why. The Eagles walked into McKinney Boyd with the District 6-6A lead on the line and left with a three set sweep. That win pushed Allen to 35-2 and stretched its winning streak to 13 matches. Baylor pledge [player_tooltip player_id='765105' first='Olivia' last='Kitur'] is the engine of this offense and she paced the Eagles with 16 kills against Boyd. Kitur swings with a fast arm and a high contact point and she is just as dangerous in the back row after putting up 18 digs in the first meeting with the Broncos. Texas A&M pledge [player_tooltip player_id='586653' first='Maya' last='Ogbogu'] gives Allen another big arm and has been averaging better than four kills per set. Running it all is junior setter Landry McRae, who leads every junior in Texas at 10.5 assists per set. McRae had 52 assists in the September win over Boyd and her ability to push the ball to her pins at full speed keeps blockers guessing. Allen is ranked No. 5 in the nation by many publications and has dropped just one set in district play. Its only two losses came against Duncanville and McKinney Boyd, and the Eagles have already answered one of them twice. They are a favorite to win the title for sure and we will be watching very closely.

Hebron Hawks (34-7)

Hebron had a score to settle in Flower Mound on Tuesday. The Hawks lost a five set thriller to the Jaguars back in September and they have not lost a match since. This time Hebron edged out a 28-26 opening set and finished the job in four to grab a one match lead in District 5-6A. Senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='359399' first='Kamryn' last='Mullican'] is the heartbeat of this group. The lefty has 1,077 assists this fall and adds 62 aces from the service line. Her ability to attack on two keeps opposing middles pinned at home and opens the pins for her hitters. [player_tooltip player_id='746528' first='Kate' last='McGough'] has been the go to finisher with 428 kills at four per set. McGough is a physical attacker who can hit through the block or tool it off the hands when the set is tight. Behind them libero Zoe Miller has piled up more than 500 digs and keeps the Hawks in system against anybody. A win over Braswell on Friday clinches the title and sends Hebron into the bi-district round as a district champion. We will be grabbing our popcorn to see if they can pull it off. The smart money is on them to do it.
