The two programs involved couldn't be from more different backgrounds; Rossville has never been to the state final before, and Lutheran is about as blue-blooded of a program as you can get. Each have their primetime players that will make a difference in the first match of the day. Let's take a look at three players from each squad that will make the biggest impact.

#13 Rossville (27-8) v #2 Lutheran (26-7)

About as complete of a player that you'll find in all of 1A, Blaire has been on our radar for quite some time now. A competitive, consistent six-rotation attacker, Miss Wellman will carry the offensive load for the Hornets as well as be a primary passer that should be avoided if Lutheran wishes to pull this one out.

Another solid sophomore in this lineup is libero Cassie. A first-contact queen, Cassie's ability to make the wearing the special jersey look matter-of-fact is very on-brand with her. Active feet, a calm platform and a knack for directing the serve receive and floor defense around her, she's another coach on the floor, and is a main reason why the Hornets stay in system as much as they do.

If you're going to be part of a club called “Mach 6”, you might as well play the part. A full-go and no-quit setter, Tori's ability to get to each and every ball despite being on the shorter side makes her one of the more fun players to watch on Saturday. I like her set placement and ability to get to a ton of balls—both in- and out-of-system—and make them hittable for her hitters.

A transfer from Purdue Poly, Sophia is a lefty banger from Lutheran that has next-level player written all over her. As a Juniata commit, Sophia brings it in so many different ways. On the attack, she can be intimidating at times. Defensively, she's a brick wall that makes attackers think twice before trying to swing low. Emotionally, she's one of the more charged athletes in any of the four matches on Saturday. Fun to watch and easy to cheer for, Miss Levine's success will be key in Lutheran's success.

A Jane-of-all-trades, Reagan can run an offense as well as she can wear the libero jersey. Skillful in multiple parts of her game, she'll be relied upon for that senior leadership on first contact and be the emotional foundation for what will be a fired-up Saint squad. Tough behind the baseline as well, Reagan's capping a stellar high school career on the biggest stage.

It's hard to think of this years' Saint squad making it to Gainbridge without Shaefer at the helm of the offense. Her ability to locate the ball well to all hitters—keeping defenses constantly guessing—has her on the precipice of greatness in Lutheran history. Quick-footed and sure-handed, Miss Scearce has all of the tools and the talent to run this offense well, and does all of the secondary skills as well as her setting. Reliable and tough, Shaefer will be called upon one more time to carry the offensive decisions.
