Fascinating Finds: USAV Showcase Setters to Know

Some I've seen before out on the scouting trail, but there were also a few "new to me" players that really caught my attention. But after watching Rowan, it really does fit for her. She is already steady with her location. She also does a nice job spreading the ball around and consistently gives her middles and pins something they can work with also. On top of all that, she also has skills. She jump sets with ease, gets the ball out quickly to the pin, and spreads out the offense to include all of her attackers. What I really appreciate about her though is that she understands how to get her hitters in good spots to score. Even when she is off the net, she adjusts well and still puts up a ball her hitters can work with. The ball just comes out of her hands so smoothly it almost looks effortless. She has a way of making difficult plays look easy, and everything she does seems to flow naturally. She moves well, gets her feet to the ball, and consistently delivers clean, accurate sets to her hitters. Add in her athleticism, height, court vision, and a ton of the other skills and traits that she possesses and you have a young, dynamic setter that is going to be a big time recruit. She delivers clean, hittable balls to her attackers and isn't afraid to move the ball around. She read the court well, picked up the defense, and went to work right away on the court. She did an especially nice job adjusting to different lineups and to the various hitters that we had constantly rotating in and out. She stayed focused and composed the entire time especially when things got chaotic. In showcases like this, setters can sometimes try to do too much to get noticed. However, Krieg didn't fall into that trap. She stayed composed, made smart decisions, and focused on running her team. Her mechanics were clean and she did a solid job of keeping her side of the court in sync. She was a truly selfless player that showcased competitiveness as well as leadership for her team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
