Right Sides to Watch at the Katy-Cy Fair Tournament

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school volleyball season officially kicks off in the state of Texas this week, and some exciting preseason tournaments are set to take place in the Lone Star State as varsity teams prepare to begin their district campaigns very soon.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of them is the Katy ISD-Cy Fair ISD Tournament, a traditional event that gathers some of the best programs of the Houston area and other regions of the state in the Katy and Cypress areas. In 2026, as many as 48 teams will play on six high school campuses in the area from Thursday, August 13, to Saturday, August 15.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas will cover the event and take a look at some of the best players in the state very early into the new season, but before the action begins, let's introduce you to some of the most promising prospects who will be on the court in the event. A junior, she makes the most of her high contact point to have an edge over opponents at the net and also thrives with her vision and shot selection, which allow her to remain sharp and efficient even in out-of-system plays. Simoncic has a great deal of shots in her arsenal and picks them intelligently, coming up big in key moments for the team. Koonsen plays her dual role on the right at a very high level, delivering strong production with both her setting and her offense. Only a sophomore, she should have a big role in the team's offense this season. Cameron is extremely well-versed offensively, using her footwork to be an option also in transition plays, getting off the floor well, doing a great job of finding gaps on the block and keeping her errors very low. Despite not being very tall, she's a very efficient offensive player who's difficult to stop at the net thanks to her excellent court vision and her quick right arm, which allows her to beat opposing blockers with last-second moves.
