Making Their Mark: New Names in the MN 2028 Rankings

With another stretch of volleyball giving us opportunities to see athletes compete, several new names have earned their way into the rankings. This latest group brings a little bit of everything from dynamic attackers, steady setters, relentless defenders, and versatile athletes who impact the game in multiple ways. While their styles of play may be different, each has shown the skill, consistency, athleticism, and competitiveness to stand out. She is a fast, aggressive libero who reads the court well and plays with a ton of energy. In serve receive, she works hard to get herself into position and is consistent with her passing, giving her team a reliable presence in the backcourt. DelaCruz is also solid in out of system and adds another weapon with a strong serve. As a setter, she sees the court extremely well, understands what her hitters need, and knows exactly where to put the ball. She also recognizes when the defense gives her an opening and isn't afraid to attack with a well timed dump. What really makes Oakley stand out, though, is how dynamic she can be offensively. She uses her athleticism and impressive hops to elevate and take big swings, making her a solid attacking threat. She is also quick and agile, allowing her to get to nearly everything sent her way. She has a quick first step and rarely takes unnecessary or false steps, allowing her to move efficiently and get to the ball with ease. She reads the game well, anticipates where the ball is going, and puts herself in the right position to make a play. She can turn the ball down the line, tool the block, attack the seam, or mix in a well placed tip or roll shot when needed. She reads the defense well and has the ability to adjust her attack based on what is in front of her, making her difficult to defend. Marquette's impact doesn't stop at the net. She hustles defensively, puts up a solid block, and plays strong off blocker defense. Erickson is also willing to track down anything, finding ways to keep the play alive.
