Freshmen Making an Impact on Varsity

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As volleyball in Oklahoma becomes more and more developed each year- you see freshmen regularly ready to contribute on their varsity teams.&nbsp; Whether thrust into the lineup due to their program rebuilding, or simply being too good to be denied, here are 5 freshmen making their mark on varsity:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='941001' first='Elyana' last='Bustle'] – S, Regent Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Elyana has been at the helm of the Regent offense since Day 1 of the season.&nbsp; Regent has fluctuated between a 6-2 with Elyana hitting on the right side when in the front row, and a 5-1 with her setting all the way around.&nbsp; Their best line-ups are with Elyana running the offense.&nbsp; Elyana has progressed significantly in her transition game from when I last evaluated her at the OKRVA All-Stars tryout.&nbsp; She has some of the best hands around, and at 6'1” is a more than capable blocker to allow her to run the 5-1.&nbsp; If she can continue to become a more consistent defensive player and server, she will be zooming up our 2030 rankings on the next update.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Raegan Hull – MB, Sand Springs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Raegan is one member of a host of freshmen and sophomores powering the Sandite's varsity team this year around senior [player_tooltip player_id='749276' first='Addie' last='Ray'].&nbsp; &nbsp;She made huge strides this past club season for Virago 14 Elite, giving her the opportunity to jump into the varsity line-up right out of the gate.&nbsp; She's got a very quick arm-swing that you look for in a middle blocker.&nbsp; She also moves well from side to side with efficient footwork.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='904390' first='Hannah' last='Foster'] – S/RS, Coweta</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Coweta is another program featuring a ton of underclassmen seeing playing time on varsity as they rebuild under new head coach Daniele Crawley.&nbsp; Hannah leads the group, contributing in a number of different ways on gameday.&nbsp; She shows good quickness chasing down passes and delivering the ball with good consistency- even when she's off balance.&nbsp; She puts up a really nice ball- especially when back setting to the right side.&nbsp; At times, she has been the Tiger's most consistent offensive weapon in the front row as well.&nbsp; Her ability to attack with consistency on both the left side and the right side show her versatility.&nbsp; She will be a key contributor for Coweta for years to come.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='937265' first='Marley' last='Dokes'] - MB, Jenks</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Already a star on the club side, Marley is now making her mark on varsity school ball.&nbsp; Jenks returned both starting middle blockers from their semi-final team from last season, but Marley was simply too talented to keep off the court.&nbsp; Jenks has shuffled their lineup to make room for the 6'1” middle blocker, and the dividends are already paying off for the Trojans as they opened the season ranked #3 in 6A.&nbsp; With a year of varsity experience under her belt, look for Marley to be among the best players of any age by season's end.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Suzy Howle - S/RS, Shawnee</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Building off her success on the OKRVA All-Stars team this summer which finished in 2^nd place at the All-Star Championships- Suzie is a bit of a Swiss army knife for the Wolves this season.&nbsp; She has run the offense from the setter position, hit on both the left and right side, as well as being one of their best defensive players and servers.&nbsp; Shawnee will utilize her in every way possible as they fight for position in a wide-open field of potential state-qualifying reams in Class 5A this year.&nbsp; Suzie has already shown a penchant for leadership, and she excels at the mental aspects of the game- something you'd expect, being the daughter of Oklahoma Baptist University head coach Anna Howle.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
