The high school volleyball season is nearing its end and there are some teams and players who are making a name for themselves. This season has proven to be another great showing from our wonderful and amazing players. Let's take a look at some of the intriguing storylines from the Lone Star State as we head into the playoffs.

Wylie Pirates (33-4)

Wylie has turned District 9-6A into its own neighborhood. The Pirates went 13-0 to win their second straight outright district title and dropped only two sets along the way. They are 33-4 and riding a 13 match winning streak. Lamar pledge [player_tooltip player_id='804539' first='Julia' last='Hudgins'] is the headliner with 494 kills at 4.7 per set. Hudgins hit .526 with 21 kills and just one error in the match that clinched the title. She was also named to the all tournament team at Volleypalooza after posting 101 kills over one weekend. Her arm is heavy and her shot selection is mature, which is why she rarely gives away points. [player_tooltip player_id='846874' first='Jolene' last='Bao'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1022808' first='Ava' last='Williams'] lead a defense that turns tough serves into clean swings. With back row play like they provide, this squad will be very hard to beat as they stay in system a lot. [player_tooltip player_id='838690' first='Keelyn' last='Green'] adds a versatile threat who can set and attack. Wylie has won 21 straight home matches and it plays with the confidence of a team that expects to win. That kind of confidence will be a tough out for anyone who gets matched up with in the playoffs. We think they are in for a long run in November.

Flower Mound Jaguars (25-8)

Flower Mound might be the most dangerous second place team in Texas. The Jaguars are 25-8 and ranked inside the top 30 nationally by MaxPreps. They handed Hebron its last loss before Tuesday with a five set win in September. A stunning five set upset by rival Marcus and a four set loss to Hebron cost them the district crown, but the talent is undeniable. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='531615' first='Aleah' last='Edmond'] leads every top junior in Texas with a kill percentage above 50 percent. We have written about her a lot since she burst onto the scene as a freshman two years ago and now in her third year she is proving that she is one of the most dangerous killers roaming the court. Edmond had 21 kills in the first Hebron win and 31 kills against Wakeland earlier this month. She plays all six rotations and attacks from both pins with a fast and powerful arm. [player_tooltip player_id='808172' first='Grace' last='Pinegar'] is a second big arm who put up 19 kills against Hebron. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='411969' first='Hayden' last='Curtis'] handed out 48 assists that night and keeps this offense moving at a high tempo. If the Jaguars play like they did in September, they can beat anyone left in the bracket. Just because they came in second in their district doesn't mean they can't win the title. If I know some of their players, they love to have a chip on their shoulder and will be ready for any fight that comes their way in the playoff race.
