She does what she can to beat balls to their destinations on the floor. Knowles takes minimal steps to balls and can backpedal to dig up well-struck balls toward back lines. She hustles to corners to dig up deep shoves and does a great job defending side lines. Knowles lunges after balls under control and lefties do not bother her. Knowles also showed she can handle tough four-to-four cut shots with 27 digs in the Division I-A state championship game. Knowles finished her career with a 92 percent overall serve receive percentage.</p>

She has a sound court IQ and uses her strong vertical jump to hit over double blocks. Thomas sends soft shots to the donut on pipe plays and is a sound blocker.</p>
