Maize won three matches in the morning session of a double-triangle invitational on September 19. The Eagles have multiple players who have received college offers and if they continue to dominate opponents there will be more schools paying attention.

Here is a scouting report on the top performers in Maize’s wins over Valley Center, Hutchinson, and Kapaun Mt. Carmel

The Three Stars of the Day

OH, [player_tooltip player_id="105511" first="Mallorie" last="Koehn"], 5’11”, (’21 Ranked No. 31)– Koehn is the real deal and has offers from the JUCO level all the way up to DI. Koehn’s best match of the day came against Hutchinson. She had 19 kills and 12 digs in the 25-23, 24-26, 25-14 win. In the three matches, she ended up with 30 kills, 27 digs, and six service aces. She did leave the final match early with an apparent ankle injury.

MB, [player_tooltip player_id="105526" first="Sydney" last="Lentz"] 6’2”, (’21 Ranked No. 46) – Lentz is tall, long, and can jump. He best match of the day was in the opener against Valley Center. The senior tallied seven kills and four blocks in the 25-6, 25-23 victory. She finished the three matches with 17 kills and 10 blocks. She projects as an NAIA or JUCO talent.

OH, [player_tooltip player_id="105588" first="Baylee" last="Miller"], 5’9” (’21 Ranked No. 105) – Miller’s stock will rise after these three matches. She is a two-way player who really never needs to leave the game. She had 10 kills in the 23-25, 25-15, 25-17 win over Kapaun. In the three matches, she amassed 24 kills, 15 digs, four blocks and five aces. She has multiple offers from JUCO programs, but NAIA scouts would do themselves a disservice, by not giving Miller a look.

Class of 2022 Talent

Abby Godfrey, a junior, made a big statement in the three matches. Overlooked in the initial Class of 2022 rankings, she will be included in the next round of updates. The right side hitter finished the three matches with 16 total kills, 15 digs, and six blocks.
