Class 6A will never run out of standout athletes.

Last week, we put our microscope squarely on the 6A bunch. These big-city schools have put on quite a display this fall, giving us so many more athletes to feature and add to our database. Part 1 of this series already discussed a handful of names that have caught our eye, but we're not done with this conversation yet.

The postseason looms as we reach the mid-October slate. Teams are hoping to find their peak form through these last few weeks, and these players could be the catalyst for finding that rhythm. Meteoric stock-risers always play a part in which squads make late-season noise.

Let's find a few more candidates.

Olathe West has to get in the mix after we visited with this group at Saturday's SkyHawk Invite in Omaha. The Owls showed tremendous pin-to-pin balance at this stacked event, and Woodberry remained as reliable as ever. This [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='Power'] standout has averaged over 2.5 kills per set to cement her spot in Olathe West's starting rotation. It's a big development for Woodberry, but her club success was a clear precursor to this breakthrough. Aside from her ability to terminate on the left side, Woodberry's calm platform has become an all-around asset across the Owl backcourt.

We last discussed Schutte's terminal prowess after the club season, but she's getting it done on the prep side, too. This dynamic outside hitter just announced her pledge to Fort Hays State, keeping her vast volleyball talents close to home. Gardner-Edgerton knows all about her incredible range, yielding over four kills per set in Schutte's junior campaign. It's a huge jump from her 2025 output, and Schutte's power tells a lot of the story. She has a knack for tooling off hands and giving opposing defenders little chance to make a play. Those are the traits that pay off at the next level.

We've been bouncing around the club circuit already, and MAVS 816 gets the next nod. Hill was a persistent force for MAVS 816 16 National, racking up high-impact saves in the right-back area. Her serve-receive excellence can apply to any zone along the end line, and that has worked out well with Shawnee Mission East, too. Hill paces the Lancers with 4.5 digs per set against an elite gauntlet of Class 6A offenses. SME is enjoying a winning season and will bring back many of its stars for next year's crew. Hill will lead the way.

On to Wichita. Respress joins a handful of sophomores we could have included in this feature. We could easily hone in on Respress' scoring potential, which has generated some highlight-worthy swings for the Blue Aces. However, Respress gets our shoutout through her twitchy, precise work as a floor defender. She is piling up nearly four-and-a-half digs per set, upping last year's average by a considerable margin. Respress knows how to defend outside her midline and uses her length to expand that range. Expect a little of everything from this emerging 2029 athlete.

Blue Valley Northwest is the next stop in our tour of sophomore stars. Hamilton is prepping for a high-impact season in the KC Power gym, but she's not done gathering momentum with the Huskies. She has broken into the top rotation and is on pace for a triple-digit kill total this fall. Hamilton's tremendous physicality allows her to adapt to roles in the middle and on the right, and we're excited to see how that versatility expands heading into 2027.

Lawrence Free State has been racking up the underclassman mentions lately. Toner belongs in that discussion with her tireless work at the Firebirds' middle blocker position. This MAVS KC standout springs off the floor quickly and is especially comfortable working in the gap. Lawrence Free State's youthful lineup has opened up tremendous opportunities for Toner, who has logged the team's second-best hitting percentage. A 22-6 record is further evidence of Free State's bright future, even after a few high-profile seniors depart.
