First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
Our first district in 2021 is the 3A South Sound, which features eight high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Laney Lovrovich – Senior – Outside Hitter – Peninsula
Laney Lovrovich impacted Peninsula’s game in a variety of ways and was one of the main reasons why the Seahawks finished last season with a positive 11-3 campaign in the district. The 5’9” outside hitter can score points from anywhere at the net and has also a strong backcourt game, giving her the perfect skills for the position. In 2019, Lovrovich led Peninsula at the net with 158 kills, but was also among the best in the entire roster in aces (second, 25), digs (second, 149) and passes (first, 225).
Keahi Sarono – Setter – Senior – Central Kitsap
A technical and tall setter, Keahi Sarono has been a centerpiece in Central Kitsap’s State Championship runs in the last two seasons. An All-State team honorable mention nominee and an All-League first-team member in 2019, the 5’9” prospect was at her best last season when she handed out 544 assists (8.5 per set) on her way to lead the Cougars to a seventh-place finish at the State Championship.
Addie Robertson – Outside Hitter – Senior – North Thurston
Addie Robertson’s game in 2019 wasn’t enough to take North Thurston to the State Championship, but that doesn’t take anything away from what she did. The 5’11” outside hitter was a cornerstone for the Rams last season, ranking among the nest in the team in virtually every skill. Robertson, who has already committed to playing college volleyball for George Fox University, led her team in kills (242), was second in aces (30) and third in digs (40) and passes (90).
