Continue ReadingKing’s rebounded well from their 3-2 season opening loss to Overlake and ended their campaign with a very positive 9-1 win record in the 1A class. The Knights won nine matches in a row after their first-match setback and secured a 3-1 win against Bush and a 3-0 victory over Bear Creek to end their season.
Here are the players who contributed the most for their strong week:
Noele Alberda – Middle-Blocker – 2021
A key player for King’s over the course of her entire high school career, Alberda was just that in the two matches that ended the season. The 5’11” middle-blocker put her size and her skills to good use and was extremely consistent on offense, registering 12 kills in both matches. She also had two blocks against Bush and one ace in the match with Bear Creek.
Annika Ruud – Middle-Blocker – 2021
The 5’9” middle-blocker has put up a pair of strong performances on her way out of high school volleyball. King’s second-best top scorer in the season, Ruud kept the same level of consistency until the end of the season, registering a team-high 15 kills against Bush and following it up with eight in the meeting with Bear Creek.
Emily Evanson – Libero – 2021
If Alberda and Ruud were instrumental in King’s offense, it was Evanson who carried the team’s defensive load during the season. The final matches of the team’s campaign were a good example of her importance to the Knights in that aspect as she led the team in digs and passes in both matches with 12 and 17 against Bush and 12 and 12 in the match against Bear Creek.
