Top Five Attackers In 2A So Far

With only a couple of weeks remaining in the regular season, Indiana’s cream of the crop is starting to become apparent. With no real changes in the top five team rankings this week, we’re taking the time to give attention to players that have made major impacts for their respective teams as we head down the homestretch. Here are five attackers you should know in 2A as the postseason approaches. ’23, [player_tooltip player_id="85932" first="Ava" last="Smith"], 6-0 OH, Park Tudor Ava is a high-flying, hard-hitting pin attacker that is developing her serve receive to perfection as I type. Her Team Indiana training has her terminating on a regular basis for a Panther squad that has seen some success in the past, but has never had a kid like her. She’s currently averaging over five kills per set while hitting near .400, and should never come out due to her athleticism and game-changing abilities. ’23, [player_tooltip player_id="108606" first="Sydney" last="Swan"], 5-10 OH/MB, Clinton Prairie Another 5 kps/.300 pin attacker, Miss Swan is the heart and soul of the offense for CP. I listed her position as also middle because she’s capable of doing both at the next level. Although she plays middle like a basketball player (very one-footed and one-handed), I can see her as a primary passing outside in college. ’22, Delaney Martin, 5-10 MB/OH, North Judson-San Pierre Another Boiler Juniors product, just like Sydney listed above, is Miss Martin from the longest high school name ever. Although she’s not terminating at the same level as the two listed above, you can’t fake five kills per set. Delaney is a strong and aggressive attacker that should make waves in the postseason this fall. ’22, Marietta McGinnis, 5-11 MB and ’22, Brie Miller, 5-10 OH, South Putnam From the western portion of Indiana comes this pair of terminators, each with their own strengths. Marietta is a strong and lengthy middle who can pound and defend at the next level, and played up a year at COA last spring. Brie is a do-everything outside who might be a tad small on the right, so we’ll keep her on the left for now. Combined, this duo is averaging nine kills per set while hitting a solid .250 on the season.
