MVA has been producing a lot of top young prospects in recent classes and the 2022 club season is a chance to see more breakout.

The 16 & 15 Black squads each have some players with high ceilings and a lot of size to work with.

Here’s a look at what you can see from those two units throughout the winter and spring.

16 Black

This group is full of players that got a lot of varsity experience this past fall, which should lead to some good things on the floor during club season. The lone 2025 member to move up is [player_tooltip player_id="156337" first="Layla" last="Visser"] on the outside. She’s a very explosive player that can touch 10’4” with a 6-foot frame. [player_tooltip player_id="110333" first="Isabel" last="Whittaker"], [player_tooltip player_id="176597" first="Sophia" last="Allen"] and [player_tooltip player_id="110307" first="Morgan" last="Kaiser"] are also available on the outside. Allen can slide into the middle to play alongside [player_tooltip player_id="176602" first="Samantha" last="Clemens"] and Melina Teunis. At setter [player_tooltip player_id="110284" first="Hannah" last="Bredeweg"] and [player_tooltip player_id="110324" first="Grace" last="Spoelma"] are options, with Spoelma also able to shift to DS. [player_tooltip player_id="110322" first="Taylor" last="Smaka"], [player_tooltip player_id="110290" first="Hope" last="Davies"] and [player_tooltip player_id="176606" first="Grace" last="Steiner"] round out the defensive options in the back row to give the team a well-rounded lineup. 16 Black has a lot of pieces to work with, it will be about finding the right mixture to really get them to hit their stride. Look for this team to really show a lot of improvement by season’s end.

15 Black

A solid group of 2025 prospects make up this team. Leading the way could be outside/middle [player_tooltip player_id="156303" first="Alissa" last="Hulst"], who stands 6’2” and is coming into her own in regards to using her length to her advantage. This could be a really big club season for Hulst. Adelee Kaiton was a California import from last year that is an athletic option on the outside, but can also play setter. [player_tooltip player_id="156314" first="Kylie" last="Loehfelm"], [player_tooltip player_id="156333" first="Jillian" last="Swierbut"] and Lucy VanDrunen will also be primary outsides, but all have the ability to move around to different positions. The same can be said for primary middles [player_tooltip player_id="156318" first="Emmanuella" last="Neff"], [player_tooltip player_id="156334" first="Ella" last="Taatjes"] and Grace Allen. At setter, Grace Riedel and Cali Stevons will handle the position, but can shift to the back row as well. Madison Peal is a standout libero that will give 15 Black a strong defensive game. If the hitters can develop around this strong defense, 15 Black can make a lot of waves in the state.
