Klein Oak vs. Clear Falls
Clear Falls is sporting a newer look this year with the addition of some new faces. Klein Oak is sporting a new look in the form of new head coach DaVette McCall. Fall’s has an outstanding sophomore setter, Bri Dunn. Not only does she distribute the ball well, but she also has a cannon for an arm. Senior setter for Klein Oak, Maggie Ellender, will have to match the speed on offense. Fall’s senior middle blocker Brittney Daphnis Brittney Daphnis 5'11" | RS Clear Falls | 2023 TX will be a force to deal with as she had 84 blocks last season. She will have to be on her game for Oak’s outside hitter Gracie Campbell Gracie Campbell 5'10" | OH Klein Oak | 2023 State TX , who just recently committed to Nicholls State. Gracie is looking to get close to the 1,000-kill mark this season. Klein Oak will also have freshman middle Tori Leggerio and senior 6 rotation right side Hannah Akala to rely on. Fall’s will definitely need their scrappiness and high energy for this game.
Brenham vs. McNeil
Brenham is reloaded this year with a star-studded cast of players. Setter Charli Crowson Charli Crowson 6'1" | OH Brenham | 2024 State TX will return as the setter. Her 6’1 size makes her a key player for Brenham. Brooklin Frazier is back from an injury and is sure to make a significant impact on Brenham’s ball control. Riley Filla will be a solid returner on the right side, as well as Carissa Keng who can play any front row position. If McNeil wants a shot at this game they will have to contain Brenham’s senior outside Brooke Bentke Brooke Bentke 6'2" | OH Brenham | 2023 State #112 Nation TX and senior right side Ada Stopschinski, who both have a cannon for an arm.
Dickinson vs. Hays
Dickinson and Hays are a great match-up because they are both underrated teams who should be getting more attention. Both programs are well coached, and more and more players in the program are turning out to be elite. Dickinson has a great mix of young and seasoned players. Sophomore setter Keely Anderson will look for more playtime this season after finishing 2nd place at GJNC’s with AVA. Addison Stanley had a great sophomore year and is back at the libero position. She will have to defend Lusia Langi Lusia Langi 5'11" | MB Hays | 2024 State TX in the middle, who has improved so much of her offensive game and is definitely one to keep an eye on. She will also have to defend Megan Disu and Madi Disu, both heavy hitters for Hays. Caroline Boone will try to add some offense for Dickinson, as she is agile enough to hit from either pin.
Johnson vs. Clear Lake
After graduating a good senior class, Johnson will have to rely on some new faces like sophomore Zaniah Hoskins Zaniah Hoskins 5'10" | OH Johnson (Buda) | 2025 State TX , who had a great freshman year in 2021. She is an agile outside hitter, that is developing more aspects of her game. Utility player Lana Tello can do it all, from passing to hitting to digging. She will give Johnson an edge for sure. Chloe Beck will try to combat that offense by distributing the ball for Clear Lake, and junior Annie Cathey will be there to put the ball away from any position. The match-up on the pins may be the deciding factor in this game.
