Fulshear vs. Brenham – Top Performers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school volleyball season is underway in the state of Texas and we'll try and be in as many matches as we can in order to bring the best coverage of the sport and all the info on the most promising prospects of the Lone Star State to you every week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The idea is to do things a little bit differently this year, so after every match I attend, I'll be posting a quick article highlighting the players that stood out the most in that particular encounter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Tuesday, August 23, we watch the duel between class 5A powerhouses Fulshear and Brenham. The Chargers benefited from the absence of Cubettes' leading scorer [player_tooltip player_id='99493' first='Brooke' last='Bentke'] to secure a four-set (25-15, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21) victory. She thrived in her dual role with the team, running the Chargers' offense with intelligence. James did a good job in accelerating the game when working with free balls and made good decisions with her ball distribution. She was also very effective offensively, changing rhythms extremely well. Her physicality is truly impressive and at times there was really nothing Brenham's blockers and defenders could do to stop her.  Warren has some ups and downs during the match, but found her game on the fourth set and pulled off an ace in a key moment. Her passing was extremely reliable and Black also generated quite a few transition opportunities with her great defense. She did a great job in leading the team backcourt and showed good hustle to recover balls. She did a very good job with her distribution, using all of her hitters, and also scored a lot of points of her own with her well-diversified offense. Her passing was excellent from start to finish and she also made some digs to help the team's defense. Kuehn also did well when she had to set in transition and had a couple of good serving runs.
