We have one final NLQ addition to the Nebraska Bid Tracker. Let's bring on the 15s.

The Great Plains Region featured many 15s teams that were on the cusp of swiping a Nationals bid in Minneapolis last weekend, but only one managed to come out with the big prize: Premier Nebraska 15 Black. This up-and-coming squad competed in 15 USA and found ways to establish itself as a frontrunner at every phase of the tournament. In the end, that yielded an appearance in the division's championship match--and, of course, a bid.

Here is the journey of Premier 15 Black, featuring the future of Nebraska prep volleyball in the Class of 2026.

Staying in the Hunt

Qualifiers are all about doing just enough to advance from round to round. That's exactly what Premier 15 Black accomplished at NLQ.

What's even better is that 15 Black started both Friday and Saturday with 2-0 records. We've previously mentioned how stringing together two wins can help take the pressure off of that final pool match, and 15 Black seemed to take advantage of that reprieve with some lineup experimentation and other changes. A straight-set loss to Rockwood Thunder at the end of Friday did not deter Premier from taking wins over Legacy and OK Charge to start Saturday's second round. It was a well-managed weekend.

In fact, 15 Black performed well enough to be exempt from 15 USA's two "play-in" matches in the Gold bracket. Premier was slotted directly into the quarterfinal round, and a pivotal matchup with OT 15 O Semei awaited.

Above and Beyond

The grit and resilience of Premier 15 Black was on full display during Sunday's bracket play.

Adversity emerged right away as the team took a tough opening set loss against OTVA and faced an early bracket exit. But, as we had seen from this group before, 15 Black rallied back to force a third set with an emphatic victory in Set 2. With the stakes reaching a dramatic peak in the deciding third, Premier Nebraska emerged victorious with a 15-7 win.

And here's a glimpse at just how high those stakes were. With that win, 15 Black moved on to the 15 USA semifinals. Four teams were left standing in this three-bid division, and one of them was Skyline 15 Black--the only team competing in this division that had previously qualified in USA. This meant that the three other teams in the semifinals alongside Skyline, including Premier 15 Black, were assured bids with a third-place match completely out of the picture. 15 Black only needed one Sunday victory to punch that ticket.

https://x.com/KingsleyATK/status/1640041734884188161?s=20

But Premier wasn't about to settle. This team wanted more. Despite facing another 0-1 deficit against a tough OP2 squad in the semifinals, 15 Black took a deuce second set and prevailed again in a contentious third. A remarkable weekend would culminate in a championship appearance.

https://x.com/KingsleyATK/status/1640062235446853632?s=20

Though Skyline eventually edged Premier in the 15 USA finale, 15 Black can take great pride in being the highest-placing team among those eligible for a bid in the division. It's a significant building block for a team that is just starting to burst onto the Nebraska club scene. Get ready for the road ahead.

https://x.com/KingsleyATK/status/1640074008002527235?s=20

Bring On the Class of 2026

Perhaps it's a mere coincidence that we made numerous new additions to our 2026 watch list right before NLQ started. Premier 15 Black had a lot of athletes represented in that big update.

Now, we have a much better sense of how this group comes together after seeing it in live action. 15 Black has that familiar combination of decisive floor defense and efficient attacking that we've come to expect from the Premier Nebraska stable.

Several of 15 Black's players help tie together all of those offensive and defensive elements. We'll immediately point to the setter duo of [player_tooltip player_id='222618' first='Kate' last='Sebree'] and [player_tooltip player_id='349407' first='Sarah' last='Faust'], both of whom define the art of "bettering the ball." It's incredibly apparent from watching 15 Black that Sebree and Faust are vital leaders for the team, and they do a brilliant job of handling passes that are drifting off the net. Pin attackers are thriving off consistent rhythm from the setter spot, regardless of who's in the match or which system is being deployed.

Let's talk about some of those pin hitters. While we're hanging out on the right pin, [player_tooltip player_id='226172' first='Sydney' last='Rogokos'] had a fantastic weekend as one of 15 Black's go-to opposites. Not only was Rogokos dynamic in the frontcourt, but she showed the ability to play a six-rotation role whenever 15 Black deployed a one-setter offense. That kind of versatility gives this squad so many options as it preps for this summer's big stage.

Depth is a serious plus as you further examine 15 Black's pin positions. [player_tooltip player_id='184283' first='Alicia' last='Johansen'] is another major part of the equation on the right side, and her physicality produced so many highlight moments in Minneapolis. Such a wealth of talent at opposite is the perfect complement to 15 Black's multi-talented group of left-side attackers, consisting of [player_tooltip player_id='187703' first='Evynn' last='Olsen'], [player_tooltip player_id='349405' first='Mia' last='Dickerson'], and [player_tooltip player_id='349408' first='Morgan' last='Douan']. All three of these outsides received extensive playing time at NLQ, and any one of them can make defensive contributions, too. Olsen was a particularly indispensable part of 15 Black's serve receive last weekend, and that ought to continue.

Speaking of serve receive, we can't forget about the ever-present impact of defensive specialists [player_tooltip player_id='349404' first='Lily' last='Zimmerman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='349406' first='Stella' last='Neal']. We alluded to Zimmerman's superior control over the libero spot when we addressed 2026 watch list additions, and those skills materialized yet again at NLQ. Neal, meanwhile, has been a mainstay in the 15 Black lineup as a primary DS in the middle-back area. She can step right in for one of the team's left-side hitters and has a huge influence that cannot be ignored.

Lastly, we have the pair of unstoppable forces in the middle. The combination of Harlow Miller and [player_tooltip player_id='349409' first='Ellie' last='Ortmeier'] brought so much firepower to the frontcourt that it's hard to overstate their impact. You can rely on this pair killing plenty of balls in front of the setter or making bold blocking moves to shut down opposing hitters. All the skills are there.

Best of all, this entire unit will have an opportunity to improve throughout the spring in preparation for Nationals--and that might include some forays in Open-level competition along the way.

The Tracker

18 Open

Premier Nebraska 18 Gold (KC MLK)

18 USA

Premier Nebraska 18 Black (Music City)

17 Open

Premier Nebraska 17 Gold (NLQ)

16 Open

Nebraska ONE 16 Synergy (NLQ)

Premier Nebraska 16 Gold (NLQ)

15 USA

Premier Nebraska 15 Black (NLQ)

We have one final NLQ addition to the Nebraska Bid Tracker. Let's bring on the 15s.
