Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Zimmerman is fitting right in with Premier 16 Gold. Her rapid rise started last fall when she put up eye-popping dig figures in Gretna’s libero jersey. She quickly climbed to the 16 Gold roster and has spent time in the contrasting jersey there, too. Even if Zimmerman is in a defensive specialist role, she remains incredibly active in the passing pattern and is not afraid to take command. Backcourt defense was an underrated game-changer during Premier’s runner-up effort at Show Me. The same story should prevail in Vegas.

This is another Premier Nebraska athlete who has represented different teams over the past couple of years. Zimmerman joined 16 Gold this year and has proven to be worthy of such a high-profile move. She wore the contrasting jersey on several occasions and was prepared to deal with all the terminal attackers you’d expect at an Open qualifier. Zimmerman can also bolster 16 Gold’s Zone 6 defense while being a focal point in serve receive. The Show Me Qualifier brought this team’s big breakthrough, and we could see another triumph in Vegas.

Sure, Zimmerman assembled an impressive highlight tape with Premier Nebraska during the club season. Did we expect her to dominate this much on the prep side and immediately seize Gretna’s libero position? Zimmerman finished with one of Class A’s best dig totals as she neared 400 total saves with the Dragons. Gretna needed some new faces to step up in 2023, and players like Zimmerman lay the foundation for the program to get back on track in future seasons.

Zimmerman will be a name to watch out for on the high school side. She’s already seen the spotlight with Premier Nebraska, of course. This libero had a big surge during qualifiers that helped 15 Black lock up a coveted USA bid. Zimmerman hasn’t slowed down since then and found an excellent rhythm in Chicago. She’ll just keep climbing with more high-level reps.

Finally, we have another Premier Nebraska defender seeing so much recent success in the contrasting jersey. Zimmerman is the undisputed focal point of Premier 15 Black’s floor defense and has equal success in serve receive. It’s the kind of well-rounded skill set we’d expect from a Gretna athlete, so keep an eye on Zimmerman in future prep seasons. Before we look ahead, though, a huge opportunity awaits at Nationals.

It has been a joy to watch Zimmerman seize command of Premier 15 Black’s back row in 2023. Not only does she have the technical skills to be an outstanding libero, but her vocal leadership and positivity have elevated 15 Black’s confidence in some nail-biting moments. Never was that more apparent than when 15 Black was chasing its bid during the spring.

We’ve all been able to enjoy the outstanding run of qualifiers for Premier 15 Black, and Zimmerman deserves a lot of credit for her work in the backcourt. Her even-keeled leadership was a pivotal component of 15 Black’s runner-up finish at NLQ last month. It’s just another case of Premier stockpiling defensive talent, so there’s a lot to be excited about in the Class of 2026.
