Of the hundreds upon HUNDREDS of teams in the greater Louisville area this weekend, two in the 15 open division stood out to me. Neither team will meet each other in any tournament for the remainder of the club season, but both have players that each team are very familiar with in the Fort Wayne area.

A team of size, speed and strength is what makes up the roster of the top seed in the Gold Bracket in 15 Open. [player_tooltip player_id='300206' first='Sophia' last='Gisslen'] ('26, 5-9 S, Carroll) runs this show, with pinpoint accuracy and the volleyball IQ to know whom to set in what situation. Her high school teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='228833' first='Addi' last='Shippy'] ('26, 6-1 MB, Carroll) has size and strength for days, and could be an M1 or an M2 at the next level. Her ability to defend from pin to pin makes it hard for opponents to avoid her. [player_tooltip player_id='378468' first='Savy' last='Walker'] ('26, 6-1 MB/RS, Homestead) is yet another in a long line of bigs from Homestead. Savy's advantage, however, is her ability to hit from anywhere.

I get criticized for mentioning only the gold bracket participants, so why not talk about a team that went undefeated Saturday? Summit, also from the Fort Wayne area, might be a little smaller than [program_tooltip program_id='430155' first='Team' last='Pineapple']'s 15-1s, but has just as much talent and skill. [player_tooltip player_id='216341' first='Keira' last='Dommer'] ('26, 5-9 S, Concordia Lutheran) is fully capable of running a 5-1 on her own for years to come, and I look forward to her doing just that. Her high school teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='216340' first='Bree' last='Peoples'] ('26, 5-10 MB/RS, Concordia Lutheran) has athleticism to burn, and is easily the most athletic on this club roster. [player_tooltip player_id='378469' first='Grace' last='Parent'] ('26, 5-9 OH, Bishop Luers) uses her smarts and savvy to put balls away, and she has every shot in the book. From the way she swings, I wouldn't be surprised if she played a bit of outdoor ball in her spare time.
