In the aftermath of our new Nebraska 2024 rankings, we’ve analyzed some new additions in a two-part release (here’s Part 1 and Part 2). We’re delving into a double feature yet again with the stock risers. But, this time, we’re grouping players by on-court role to see which attackers and ball-control specialists have stood out among their peers.
Let’s start in the frontcourt. This initial stock riser feature address the Class of 2024 attackers who have elevated their game along the net and taken over matches with their high-flying termination. Nebraska certainly has no shortage of attackers who fit this description, and this analysis will feature some of the state’s best.
It’s been quite a year for VCNebraska 17 Elite, a team that went toe-to-toe with some of the best Open teams in the country. Lionberger, who recently announced her intentions to compete at Navy, has always been a major factor in this group’s success. That will remain the case as Lincoln Southwest enters another season as a Class A frontrunner.
Eggiman’s rapid ascent up the 2024 hierarchy has been a major storyline in the Premier Nebraska gym. She joined a new squad this year and made an immediate impact among Premier 17 Red’s talented pack of pin hitters. That influenced showed up as 17 Red clinched a trip to Nationals last month, and Eggiman is poised to keep thriving during the Chicago trip.
Pribyl is one of Nebraska’s newest commitments, as she just gave her commitment to play for Southern Illinois at the next level. It’s easy to see how Pribyl’s all-around skills will translate to the next level. She has a wealth of six-rotation experience with Premier Nebraska and can adapt to playing on either pin, too.
Hagedorn is another pin hitter that has gotten plenty of publicity through her consistent leadership in big moments. She’s can do a little of everything on the left pin, from scoring in clutch situations to nailing passes in serve receive. VCNebraska 17 Black remains a squad that is loaded with under-the-radar 2024s.
Highlights
The Show Me Qualifier proved to be Hans’s big breakthrough in the 2023 season. She quickly emerged as Premier 17 Silver’s leading terminator as the team notched a runner-up finish in the 17 American division. Keeping Hans on the court full-time is a no-brainer, as she can be a lethal hitter in any rotation. 17 Silver knew how to take advantage of that.
Not only has Rasgorshek been excelling in the Nebraska ONE gym, but she’s been doing it at the 18s level this year. With the 18s season in the books, we can step back and take a look at everything this Crete standout has already accomplished in 2023. It’s just the start of what should be a brilliant year as Rasgorshek looks ahead to high school action.
We just mentioned Moore’s incredible versatility in a prior feature, and now she’s back in the conversation among Nebraska’s 2024 stock risers. She has been a steady force for Nebraska ONE 17 Black this year and provides plenty of optimism for this year’s Waverly squad. Who knows which role she might take on with the Vikings this time!
Highlights
Carnes’s dominance at the middle blocker spot came to our attention during the 2022 high school season. She emerged as a go-to attacker as the Stars added another state tournament appearance to their docket. In the club season, however, Carnes seemed to elevate her game once step further with Nebraska Pride Gold 17s. We’ll see that improvement on the big stage this summer as Carnes and Nebraska Pride take on Nationals.
The Beatrice area has been stockpiling some impressive frontcourt talent lately. Busboom remains a big torchbearer in that regard as her club career with Nebraska Juniors continues to reach new horizons. Expect a heavy dose of this opposite once again when Busboom embarks on her final season in orange.
Olsen expands our Premier 17 Red representation on this stock riser feature. This team found more and more ways to get the middle blockers involved as the 2023 season progressed, allowing players like Olsen to show their tremendous range along the net. Not only will Olsen get clutch kills, but her sharp blocking skills were a major plus in helping 17 Red clinch their Chicago ticket.
Highlights
We’ve been frequently referencing high school success in these features, and Prickett has surely used the prep stage to her benefit. Amherst soared to the semifinal round in last year’s tournament behind the wicked right arm of this outside hitter. Prickett has continued that upward trend with Nebraska Juniors, setting the stage for a brilliant senior season as one of the state’s best small-town terminators.
Like Hans, Fontana has been a stout contributor in Premier 17 Silver successful season. This squad almost always rolls out a two-setter system, which elevates the importance of having depth at the right-side hitter spot. Fontana has promptly stepped in to provide that much-needed production and was a pivotal piece of the team’s offense throughout the year.
