The Sierra Canyon volleyball team is on fire, winning 17 consecutive best-of-5 matches. Coach Stefanie Wigfall set a goal for the night for the team to finish undefeated in the Mission League, and they achieved just that.

Sade Ilawole Sade Ilawole 5’3″ | S Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA is a standout setter with a smooth touch on the ball. She defies expectations, consistently delivering the ball at the perfect height for her hitters, showcasing a level of precision that belies her height. What she lacks in stature, she more than makes up for with confidence, leading her team with poise and determination. Sade shared her aspirations to take her talent to the collegiate level. I spoke with Sade after the match and she so eloquently stated, “For all the short setters out there, don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it because it is definitely possible.”

Hanna’s abilities extend beyond offense – she excels as a great passer on serve receive and plays a quick and effective defense. Her beautiful high-angle swing and consistent performance on off-sets make her a standout player. As a go-to hitter for both front and back-row sets, her pass connection with the setter is automatic. In her own words, playing at such a high level as a freshman alongside her sister is nothing short of amazing, and she acknowledges the valuable lessons learned from the experience. As the Division 1 playoffs approach, beginning on October 18th and continuing on October 24th and 28th, Sierra Canyon is eyeing a repeat run to the Southern Section championship. The team’s outstanding performance and the individual talents of its players make them a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming postseason.
