This gives them a chance to acclimate to college life, get a jump on their classes, and train with their program so they are more comfortable when they get into their 1st fall season. Here’s some seniors that you won’t see on a club roster this winter.
Swenson has been a familiar name in Dinkytown. Stella was a fast pick-up for the Gophers with her height, athleticism, and competitive fire. Her prep career included accolades such as the AVCA Phenom watchlist, JVA All-National Team, JVA Watchlist, Class AAAA All-State, Class AAAA All Tournament Team, 17 Open All-Tournament Team, and Ms. Baden Award. She’s been a constant playing up an age with Minnesota Select and also training with USAV Spring Training Roster for the U18/19. Swenson is also 4x Class AAAA State Champion. Personally, I can’t wait to see her connect with the likes of McKenna Wucherer.
Kocon has been a staple with the Northern Lights crew over the past few years. She was on the AVCA Phenom Watchlist, Class AAAA All-State Team, JVA Watchlist, and a Ms. Baden Award Finalist. Kocon is a 6’2 lefty setter that can do everything and I think she is going to have a STELLAR career at Providence where she can make an immediate impact.
Gophers get a double dose of Swensons this time around. Olivia will be joining her twin sister, Stella, at Minnesota this spring. Her prep accolades include the AVCA Phenom Watchlist, JVA Watchlist, Class AAAA All-State Team, Class AAAA State All-Tournament Team, and she was Ms. Baden Award Finalist. Swenson has been playing up an age for Minnesota Select and even being injured during the 2021 HS Season she was a 4x Class AAAA State Champion.
Caffee will be heading to Ohio this spring after a tremendous amount of training to get there. She has been named to AVCA Phenom Watchlist, JVA All-National Team, JVA Watchlist, and Class AAAA All-State Team. She’s trained an age level up with Minnesota Select, and also been very active on the USAV Training Rosters and NTDPs over the past couple years. Caffee could potentially make an immediate impact for the Buckeyes.
Gospodarek has been a Northern Lights player over the past few years and after making the 2023 AAU 17 Aspire All-Star Team she committed to Division 1 St. Thomas. I was excited to see this one because I think it is a great fit. I don’t see Gospodarek on any club rosters so far so she is likely heading to St. Thomas this spring.
