The Northern Lights Qualifier offers teams nationwide one of the first opportunities to earn a bid to the USAV Junior National Championship. The Minneapolis Convention Center played host to several Washington teams that traveled to the Gopher State looking for early season competition and the elusive USAV Nationals bid.

DAKINE 18-1 SURF

The [program_tooltip program_id='504435' first='DaKine' last='Volleyball Club'] sent both 18U teams to Minneapolis and competed in the Liberty Division. 18-1 and 18-2 both finished off the weekend with wins, finishing in 5th place and 13th place respectively, taking home the Silver and Flight 1 brackets.

[player_tooltip player_id='245155' first='Bridget' last='Woodruff']. The powerful lefty found gaps in defenses and terminated consistently, Woodruff played with urgency and smarts as an attacker. Her DaKine squad dropped matches to both the 1st and third-place finishers, just missing a Gold Bracket berth in a 3-set loss to PVA 18 Elite.

PSVBA 17 Legacy

[program_tooltip program_id='495382' first='Puget' last='Sound Volleyball Academy'] left Minneapolis with a hard-fought 1st place victory and bid to USAV Nationals in the Liberty Division. Bids at National qualifiers are difficult to earn in any division, the competition is intense, and clubs with high national profiles are hunting bids at every event. PSVBA 17 Legacy worked through tough Midwest teams Club North and MAVS Kansas City in the Gold Bracket before taking the title over CSA out of Colorado. Wins on the national stage are a team effort, here are a few players that stood out for PSVBA.

[player_tooltip player_id='250418' first='Layne' last='Dent'] Dent was the main hammer for Legacy, ripping kills from the pin and as an option from the back row. The Saint Mary's commit was a force and played with power and efficiency.

[player_tooltip player_id='495494' first='Kailee' last='Brushwood'] The 6'0 Brushwood had smart swings and delivered timely blocks as a three-rotation right side. She has a soft tip she can drop over the top of the block and tooled the block effectively. A 2025 from River Ridge High School, Brushwood an excellent feel for the game and played winning volleyball for PSVBA.

Sudden Impact Volleyball Club

Playing in the 17 Open Division, Sudden Impact 17 Storm dueled with some of the best teams in the country. On day three they faced off against Premier Nebraska 17 Gold, looking to end the weekend with a victory. The match went to three with Sudden Impact dropping the contest after seizing the momentum in a first-set win 25-21. The tournament is a competitive starting point for a loaded travel schedule for SIVBC,

[player_tooltip player_id='369424' first='Victoria' last='Plumb'] Plumb had to hang in against some towering attackers hitting wicked angles all weekend, and she held her own. The entire Open Divison serves extremely tough and Plumb competed to keep SIVBC in system and the match. Plumb has excellent energy and is always working hard on the court.
