Club Frenzy: Topeka Saints 17-1 Prospects

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Power League Day 1 play for the 17U Division was played on February 3 in Lawrence.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After attending a Topeka Saints practice last week, I made sure to make an effort to catch them in Power League play. I scouted their second match of the day which ended up being a two-set loss to KS-Networks 17-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is the second of multiple reports from the club action this weekend. Four prospects from the Saints stood out in their second match of the day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='219726' first='Ella' last='Bolan']</strong>, 5'11”, MB/OH, Silver Lake, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bolan never fails to impress me. She is on a team loaded with talent, so she does not do as much hitting as she does for her high school team. Bolan had two kills, seven digs, and six serve receptions in the loss to Showtime. She moves well, is a smart player, and plays unselfishly. There is no doubt she can play collegiate volleyball. The question is at what level? If I used a crystal ball I imagine it would show me an MIAA logo as a possible future home.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='219738' first='Kinley' last='Wilhelm']</strong>, 5'8”, L, Seaman, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilhelm had the best match on the Saints squad and that was the morning after she played basketball for the Seaman Vikings in a win over De Soto. She finished the match with 10 serve receptions and five digs. She reads attacks well and is willing to sell out to make digs. She is a dual-sport threat prospect, but after seeing her play both sports on back-to-back days, I say she has a higher ceiling as a volleyball prospect.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='465558' first='Cali' last='Honeyman']</strong>, 5'11”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Honeyman is a straight-up baller and did not look intimidated competing against players from larger schools. She did not have the best performance I have witnessed her have, but she did chip in with three kills, three digs, and one ace. It will be interesting to see how her recruitment shakes out and I would lobby that she gets a push up the Class of 2025 rankings when they are updated.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='219727' first='Alana' last='Brewster']</strong>, 5'10”, MB, Silver Lake, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brewster had a decent match for the Saints. She recorded two kills, two blocks, and one dig in the Power League match. Brewster is an awesome role player. I am not sold that she can carry a team, but I would recommend her to every NAIA and JUCO coach who follows me.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
