Tri-State 16 Blue puts out another talented group

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Tri-State Elite Volleyball teams constantly turn out college talent and this 16 Blue team is the next crop of them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>US Club Rankings has Tri-State Elite is ranked 17th in the country over a five-year period.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scott's [player_tooltip player_id='212393' first='Milyn' last='Minor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='212347' first='Morgan' last='Heater'] head up a group of talented hitters. [player_tooltip player_id='212393' first='Milyn' last='Minor'] has started for Scott since her eighth grade year and Heater has been on the Ryle varsity roster since her eighth grade year. Minor did dress for Scott's 2020 region championship team as a seventh grader. Seventh and eighth graders are allowed to play varsity in Kentucky unlike other states.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Emma Adkins will also set and hit with Heater. Adkins primarily played a defensive specialist role for Ohio Division II state champion Mercy McAuley this past season. She brings a lot of versatility to the court for both teams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team has great size with four players standing six feet and above. The tallest is middle/outside hitter Gabby Semona from St. Ursula at 6-3.5 with Ross outside and middle hitter Kendall Bosse and Seton outside hitter Nattie Slusher both standing 6-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Three promising liberos from the Girls Greather Catholic League round out the roster. They are St. Ursula's Stella Penker, Seton's Grace Jones and Urusuline's Madison Moine.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team has played in four tournaments so far. They recently finished 5-2 in the Triple Crown in Kansas City, Missouri this past weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team played in the Mideast Power League in Indianapolis this weekend and finished 3-2. She may not be the tallest player on the court at 5-10, but she plays taller than that. Minor is consistently trying to find ways to get better. Minor is really dangerous from the pins. She can smack the ball all over the court. If she sees an opening in the middle, Minor is not afraid to adjust and tap the ball there. Minor is also great at timing her blocks and digging up balls. Minor led Scott with 474 kills, finished third with 358 digs, second with 41 blocks including a team-high 15 solo and finished fourth with 45 aces. As a result of her versatility, the 10th Region coaches voted her region player of the year. Minor led Scott to a 24-16 record last year, a 37th District championship and second straight 10th Region runner-up finish. Minor will mainly be an outside hitter for the Tri-State Elite 16 Blue team. Heater can set middle and to the pins effectively. She also has outstanding spin on her serves making it difficult for opposing passers. She is dangerous from the pins hitting both line and back row. When defenders think she is coming in hard, Adkins suddenly changes in mid-air and taps the ball into openings. Does a great job hitting around, off and tipping over blockers. Adjusts well to sets. She hits a number of nice cross-court balls. Her versatility makes her a threat all over the court. She reads blockers well and angles hits off them and out of bounds. Bosse puts her body in great position at the net denying hard hits. Bosse helped Ross to a Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division second place finish at 12-10 overall and 6-2 in division play with 300 kills - good for sixth overall in the league.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["227797"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"Semona does a great job using her size to her advantage. She can direct shots all over the court from both the middle and the outside. Is great at reading defenses constantly placing balls away from defenders. This includes a nice shallow shot from the right shallow side to the opposite shallow side. Semona led St. Ursula to the region championship game this past year with an 18-8 record, leading the Bulldogs and finishing third in the Girls Greater Catholic League with 78 blocks.
