Semona found her college home during this recent club cycle as she will stay close to home as a Xavier Musketeer. Her assertiveness and efficiency as a middle was a huge part of TSE 17 Blue’s season as they finished the AAU 17 Open national event as the highest placing Ohio-based team (Pioneer Region) with a 10th place finish. A key part of SUA’s DII Ohio state title run in 2024, she will return as one of the Bulldogs’ top offensive and defensive contributors as they challenge the GGCL and the rest of Ohio for a repeat.

Semona is going to be a high quality pick up at the next level as she has the physical frame and aggressive arm to make an offensive impact, and her size is a huge asset defensively through both pins. Her approach work is sound in serve receive and transition with good momentum build. But, it is in her work in the air that can impress as when she has good space and awareness of the defense in front of her she can move the ball around to expose edges, finding space, or by challenging the block without losing much of her power through that action.

She pulled back and tipped balls over defenders if she saw the opening. Semona made some mistakes, but Semona said she’s been growing mentally as a player so they do not affect the next play. Semona agreed it is important for players to change things up if one thing is not working.

Semona brings the length at the net as the 6’3 middle and has continued to assert herself as factor on both sides of the ball. She can use her reach and touch point to her advantage when attacking and has good awareness and arm control to move the ball around. Her ability to score around her setter is a big asset to the offense they can generate at the pins. At 2.8 k/s, she is among the top-10 offensively in the GGCL.

Semona uses her size well to control the net. She made things really difficult on the Seton hitters with the timing on her jumps. Then offensively, the Bulldog setters know they can count on her to make things happen in the middle.
