Sunshine Classic Pre-Tourney Showcase – Wk 2 Top Performers Vol 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We were super excited to run our Sunshine Classic Showcase in conjunction with the Sunshine Classic National Qualifier in Orlando, FL on March 1^st and March 7^th.&nbsp; It was held at the Winter Park Volleyball Club and was live streamed via BallerTV.&nbsp; This article series will discuss some of the players that turned the heads of the court coaches and scouts that were in attendance.&nbsp; Let's see who earned the Top Performer award from the showcase.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Brooke Oney [2028] 5-11 Outside/Right Side (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brooke is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet.&nbsp; She plays volleyball for Cornerstone Christian School and also plays club for the Alamo volleyball program.&nbsp; Miss Oney was a big showstopper according to every court coach that we had on staff who coached her.&nbsp; While many might think that she was only putting on a show from the front row, that was not the case at all.&nbsp; I was thoroughly impressed with her back row play out of the middle back position.&nbsp; Many of our court coaches noted how impressed they were with her being coachable and willing to play multiple positions to help her team in times of need.&nbsp; While a lot of younger players need the ball to be set to a perfect location, Miss Oney excelled even when the ball was not in an ideal spot.&nbsp; She was able to score or send over a very aggressive ball in out of system situations.&nbsp; This is extremely advantageous as she will only get better and better at it over the course of the next few years.&nbsp; Even though we don't rank players unless they are in high school, I will keep her name in my database for future reference and you should also.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award at the showcase.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='437446' first='Alli' last='Robinson']&nbsp;[2027] 6-1 Middle (HS: Flint/Club: Metro/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alli is currently ranked as the 25^th best overall prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Virginia State Rankings.&nbsp; She plays volleyball for Flint High School and also plays club for the Metro volleyball program. Miss Robinson was a total show stopper on her court.&nbsp; She was definitely one of the best middles in the gym during the whole showcase.&nbsp; What I really liked about her transition from defense to offense was how she turned her head and kept track of the flight of the pass from her back row in order to gauge when she was supposed to leave for the quick middle attack.&nbsp; When she decided to go, she put on the afterburners and drove her feet into the ground toward her setter in order to be on time.&nbsp; When she did make contact on the ball, I loved how she used the deep corners to try to score. &nbsp;Her court vision was perfectly on point as she also knew when there was a hole in the defense.&nbsp; She used some good off-speed attacks to exploit them.&nbsp; Her size and raw power will be enough to attract attention from college coaches.&nbsp; We will keep our eye on her very closely moving forward.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Gabriella Saenz&nbsp;[2028] 5-4 Libero (HS: McAllen/Club: McAllen Premier/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gigi is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.&nbsp; She will play for McAllen High School and plays club for the McAllen Premier volleyball program.
