is a consistent offensive threat and her setter’s favorite option, Opal continues to elevate her game each time she steps on the court. Her delayed swing gives her an edge, allowing her to hang in the air and read the defense before attacking. She mixes up her shots well, using a smart combination of line, angle, tips, and rolls to keep opponents guessing. Opal stood out as the player of the match for Chadwick.
Opal’s Voice
“Something I took away from the match and my team’s overall run in playoffs is how much determination is impactful. My team had a rough start to the season and a tough time in our division, but we still thankfully made it to playoffs. I think that shows how persistent and determined our team is to win even throughout the struggles. I’m overall really proud of what my team has been able to accomplish and can’t wait to see what we do this week in states! I would like college coaches to know I’m not a player that will back down from a challenge. Challenges push me to try even harder to do my best. I think my junior season has really reflected that grit I have and how I truly strive to do my best every game.”
State Run:
Opal will continue her postseason journey on Tuesday, November 11, hosting Eagle Rock in the opening round of the 2025 CIF State Girls Volleyball Championships (Division III). The match will take place at Chadwick School in Palos Verdes Peninsula with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

used the college camp to display more than just her attacking. She showed adaptability, staying effective in drills that required her to set, dig, and adjust on the fly. One standout moment came during a pins-only drill where she was asked to play all around. “I was proud of how I played in this drill because I was digging and setting well, even though that isn’t my primary position,” she said. Her ability to contribute across roles shows versatility and presence under pressure.
What left the biggest impression on Opal was how approachable and supportive the coaches were. Their encouragement helped her focus on meaningful effort rather than perfection. The experience also helped clarify what she’s seeking in a program, coaches who see the whole athlete and teammates who create a strong, connected culture. “I want a program where I’ll be challenged, supported, and pushed to grow, not just on the court but in leadership and confidence too,” she shared. Her advice: “Be confident, not perfect. Coaches are watching your energy, your response to mistakes, and how you lift the court around you.” ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

compete, I’m more and more impressed by the strides she continues to make in her development. Opal is a dedicated and hardworking up-and-coming player who is constantly pushing herself to fine-tune every aspect of her game. One of the areas she has focused on improving is her touch on the ball. Her ability to manage the ball and make precise adjustments is growing, and it’s clear that she’s putting in the work to perfect this skill.
What stands out about Opal is her remarkable vertical leap, which allows her to avoid blocks with ease. Her athleticism and explosiveness enable her to challenge defenders and make plays that many players wouldn’t be able to execute. While her vertical does much of the work for her, Opal is a serious force at the net.
Opal’s ultimate goal is securing a bid, and she’s fully committed to making that happen. Her work ethic and drive to get better are clear, and she’s showing impressive growth with each competition. Opal is becoming a player who is poised to compete at the next level. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247
