The Show Me Qualifier was a fruitful outing for many Nebraska 2026s, especially with two of the state’s 16s teams clinching GJNC bids. Kansas City brings out a lot of firepower from the Great Plains Region, and pin hitters are back in the spotlight.
Be sure to check out our prior feature on 2026s who took a step forward at Show Me. Some pin hitters can be found there, but we have a few more on our radar. Let’s dig deeper.
Jocelyn O’Neal

Okay, so we’re bending the rules for this one. O’Neal is technically in our Iowa camp by virtue of her high school location, but we couldn’t leave this Premier Nebraska star out of the mix. The left-side hitter is gaining momentum after Premier 16 Red earned a podium finish in Kansas City. O’Neal delivered heavy heat into the crosscourt and showed her excellent court vision throughout Show Me. Keep an eye on this high flyer during Great Plains Region action.
Here’s a chance to expand on Bauer’s emergence with South Central NE 16 Black. This multi-talented attacker can play just about any position across the 16 Black frontcourt. Her recent reps at Show Me were primarily at opposite, where Bauer showcased her quick arm on the right side. Getting Bauer in a rhythm was a big part of South Central’s runner-up effort, and we’ll get to see how it translates to Nationals this summer.

We have another right-side hitter entry to discuss, and this one comes from Nebraska Juniors. Gleason’s aggressive attacking style helped Nebraska Juniors 16 Red soar to a 3-0 start in Kansas City. The Beatrice prep athlete can use her power to produce indefensible swings off the opposing block. Gleason’s prowess on the right side is only one portion of our scouting report. She might play a handful of other positions during this fall’s prep season.
Smith has found the spotlight a few times over the past several months. Last fall, she helped Burwell High School make a breakout appearance in the state tournament. That positive momentum has led to more big moments with Nebraska Pride Black 16s, including the team’s trip to the Show Me Qualifier. Smith showed the versatility to play on either pin and brings a ton of high-level experience to the lineup.
Nebraska ONE 16 Lime has some incredible firepower behind the setter. Burkey has emerged as a leader on the right side with her quick arm and excellent out-of-system swings. She can pound through a blocker’s hands or simply go over the top for the kill. 16 Lime also had a strong defensive showing in Kansas City, and Burkey played a huge role in fortifying the net against opposing outsides. Keep an eye on Nebraska ONE ‘s collection of 2026 pin hitters.

Bartling raises the bar every time she suits up for Nebraska Elite. She was one of our biggest standouts from this year’s Midwest Power League, but Bartling didn’t stop there. Nebraska Elite 16 Lokahi looked to their star outside hitter to put away some clutch swings at Show Me. She always found a way to come through while reaching higher and higher with every swing. We can’t wait to see what the fall season brings for this Elkhorn South star.

Speaking of prep stars we’ve enjoyed watching, Wohlgemuth is elevating her game with Nebraska ONE after winning a state championship last fall. She has exhibited multi-pin flexibility with Lincoln Lutheran but is primarily a left-side attacker for Nebraska ONE 16 Black. This allows Wohlgemuth to crank out as many swings as possible, and she took advantage of that throughout 16 Black’s stay in Kansas City.
Premier 16 Black keeps finding new ways to improve, and a lot of that stems from individual growth. Liebentritt is one of many 16 Black standouts who has taken the next step in 2024. She snaps onto the ball with incredible force and will not shy away from going pass-to-attack in the front row. Premier Nebraska has seen Liebentritt’s skills flourish as a left-side hitter, but she can also play opposite for 16 Black. Anything to win.

River City Jrs 16 Navy has seen its share of hype on our site lately. Fiene deserves some credit for that resurgence, and she can get it done on either pin for 16 Navy. This multi-sport standout from Conestoga High School provided several highlight moments in Kansas City–a continuation of what Fiene has done all year. The small-town scene keeps growing its list of stars from the Class of 2026.
Nebraska Elite is building some pin depth in the 2026 class. Mason has garnered recognition as a strong right-side hitter, but she also earned some reps on the left side at Show Me. This meant that Mason could show her finesse and court awareness on out-of-system plays. The Gretna product was up to the challenge and gives Nebraska Elite 16 Nova a wealth of good lineup options.
VCNebraska is pulling in some of Grand Island’s most dynamic athletes, and Scheer certainly belongs in that conversation. The GI Northwest prep athlete gets plenty of attacking volume on the right side with VCN 16 Elite and makes the most of those opportunities. Scheer is never afraid to put some pace on the ball in out-of-system situations. This aggression has allowed her to terminate on some wild scramble plays, which is a game-changer in close contests.

Douan captured our attention after posting double-digit kill performances in Kansas City last weekend. It’s a big accomplishment, especially for a frontcourt opposite. The Premier 16 Silver pin hitter does a bit more than you’d expect from a right-side hitter, too. She can run crossing patterns in front of the setter and will occasionally swing off one foot. Douan’s range keeps expanding, and 16 Silver is surging as a result.
Eggerling is bringing a lot more than frontcourt offense to VCNebraska 16 Black. She is developing exceptional backcourt skills that aid the team in both serve receive and floor defense. The Crete High School standout is accustomed to putting big numbers on the stat sheet, but Eggerling’s impact goes beyond the eye-popping box score.
