Jeremy Deckard | Prep Dig Scout
Another Mill Valley senior whose prep career has concluded, but who will play college volleyball, is Nzioki. She was named to the KVCA 6A All-State team for the first time. She finished her senior season with 208 kills. She is an athlete who had to wait her turn to star at Mill Valley, but that patience paid off with a scholarship offer from Northwestern State in Louisiana.

Mill Valley is one team I like to try to see play in the KC area. Last season was the first time I took a trip to their school, but I usually see the team compete at the State Tournament. Nzioki is an athlete I have seen play in person, but I have watched her game closely from the social media sideline. She is an aggressive athlete who posts videos of her prep and club play regularly on social media. That played a big role in her landing an offer to play for Northwestern State in Louisiana, where she has verbally committed to play after graduation.

Mill Valley has verbally committed to a college program since she was last featured on Prep Dig Kansas. She is ranked No. 38 overall and has committed to play for Northwestern State. She is a long and lanky middle with cat-like speed. She understands how to play winning volleyball and understands which skills she is best at. A college program will get her in the weight room, and the stronger she gets, the more dominant she can be at the net. Since she is headed to Louisiana, she might want to develop a taste for crawfish and shrimp po’boys.

So in case you have been living under a snowbank, Mill Valley has won back-to-back state championships and loaded with veteran talent. Nzioki is a prospect who could be the No. 1 attacker for many of the prep programs in the Metro area but has had to share time and wait for the spotlight at Mill Valley. She had 63 kills and 30 blocks last season as a role player. College coaches should look to see how her role evolves as a senior.
