Scouting Reports, Photos: Cedar Falls 2024

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I traveled to Cedar Falls last week for my first look at the 2024 Tigers. They played host to Iowa City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference match. The visitors pulled out a five-set victory. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was one of the few hiccups this season for this Cedar Falls squad. They learned on Wednesday that they would be hosting a regional final if they advance that far.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Tigers boast a roster capable of a return to the state tournament in Coralville. The UNI recruit has played a large role in that success. Hannam is an explosive middle hitter/blocker. She jumps very well, which helps her be an effective two-way performer. Hannam brings a big swing with a powerful finish. She's technically sound in her operation. Defensively, she combines the athleticism with good reads and timing. It will be fun to track her career on the next level. She's a well-rounded setter with a soft touch and understanding of where her teammates like the ball placed. Bakula times her set dumps and blocks well. She's become effective hitting outside this season after showing the ability to finish plays from the right side. There are few things she can't accomplish on the court. Krecklow has transferred over those abilities to become a key player for the Tigers as a sophomore. She ranks second on the team in kills, displaying a knack for getting a good swing from different positions on the floor. She also ranks second on the squad in digs, illustrating her versatility. She solidifies her teams by being a reliable force in the back row. She moves quick laterally, reads the ball, gets into position and provides a precise pass way more often than not. She sets when Bakula moves to the outside. Schmadeke transitions seamlessly to hitting from the pin and ranks second to Hannam in blocks this season.
