Canyon played some of their best game all season in a thrilling match. Winning long rallies and serving up aces kept them in the lead most of the match, however, Legacy pulled it together at the end to win the match by two.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game 2: 25-12</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After such an exciting matchup, you could hear the whispers throughout the gym about Canyon, the underdog, keeping up with Legacy. However, Legacy turned it up a knotch and made a lot less errors in this set. Canyon did not keep up this set as fans had hoped for, but still had another shot at getting it together to try and take the third set.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game 3: 25-14</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>By this point, Legacy brought it on home as Canyon continued to make several costly errors. Legacy started cooking with kills and service aces to win by more than 10 points again in this set.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Player of the Match - Paradise Tupai, Legacy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Paradise (2025 OH) was on fire in multiple skills this match. She racked up kills, digs and some service aces to help seal her team's fate in the first round. She had a couple of really powerful swings outside and some impressive back row digs. However, her serving was what stood out most. She ran through Canyon's serve receive by mixing up deep floats and short serves. She often found the weakest link and served to that player back-to-back. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Game stats - 6 kills, 6 aces, 13 digs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers - Legacy Longhorns</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='573493' first='Arial' last='Fox'], 2027 OH/DS -</strong> Fox flexed a lot of different attacks throughout the game which helped her earn double digit kills. She can hit aggressively, tool the block and tip to open holes. Besides assists, she showed off her hustle and skills when it came digging up tough balls and short tips last night from opponents. Her serve is another layer of her game that is high-level and difficult for her opponents to pass. She should have a great club season with this momentum.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Game stats - 19 assists, 10 digs, 4 aces</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers - Canyon Springs</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ariyanah Custard, 2025 OH/DS -</strong> Ariyanah is a solid six-rotation player, making plays on both front row and back row. Wherever she is, you can best believe she is going to get set and has a high chance of putting it down. She does play a little safe at times, but in several cases, it threw off the defense as they were expecting hard hits from her every time she gets set.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ameera Howland, 2027 MB -</strong> Ameera has proven herself to be one of Canyon's top players offensively made defensively. When she's not on front row, her presence is heavily missed in middle. She uses her style of play to her advantage, which seems to always find open spots on the court. She is the teams best blocker and one of the Ķtop servers, earning a few aces this matches.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Taylee Dukes, 2027 DS/L - </strong>Taylee was give her setter so many great passes to work with. She is solid on serve receive and passed some dimes to the setter when digging tough attacks. She is currently a DS on the team, but her energy and constant communication are the perfect fit for a libero. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='537393' first='Gianna' last='Jackson'], 2025 S </strong>- Gianna often found ways to make a bad pass get overlooked by a graceful set to a great spot along the net for her hitters. She was all over the place at times chasing passes, but she consistently made plays happen. Her serve is one of the best on her team and she isn't hesitant when playing right back defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ashari Spann, 2027 OH</strong> - Ashari was aggressive on the net, ready for an overpass that comes over and putting it down. She has a lot of potential at the outside position, but for sure one of the better hitters on her team.
