Lesley, a UC Santa Barbara commit, will be a name to watch for this season, as she plays in the middle effectively. She could also see some time at right side, as Huntington Beach will need all the firepower they can in order to keep up with the rest of the teams. Offensively, Lesley can read the block well and put the ball down perfectly away from the opposing team’s defense and defensively, she can read where the ball is going and prepare to block it.

Amaya was one of the freshmen in the building who really brought the heat and wasn’t afraid to compete hard against upperclassmen. From the moment she stepped onto the court, her strong approach and swing immediately caught my attention. She has an incredible ability to time her approach just right, which allows her to contact the ball at the highest point and smash the ball with serious power. Whether it was during drills or team competitions, Amaya consistently powered through blockers and found ways to hit around them with ease.

At 6’1″, she naturally fits the middle position, but her height isn’t the only thing that sets her apart—it’s her overall game, especially at such a young age. Her understanding of the game, combined with her skillset, is a recipe that has made her a very advanced player.
