This week I heard a coach say, "Players who throw caution to the wind and do anything to make sure the ball stays in play are the type of players you want on your team." These libero's from the Countdown City Classic all have that trait in common, showcasing an unwavering commitment to their team. From running out of bounds to save a ball to diving into the crowd, their determination is palpable. They possess not just talent but also a fearless mindset that prioritizes team success over personal safety. These athletes are willing to sacrifice their bodies, often colliding with benches or spectators, reflecting a true spirit of teamwork and resilience. They all embody the save the ball now and worry about my bruises later mindset, demonstrating a relentless pursuit of excellence. This is why I chose these four libero's as my standouts for this tournament; their dedication and passion truly set them apart from the rest and inspire their teammates to elevate their game.    Morgan is definitely a leader on the court, constantly communicating with her teammates and guiding them through plays. She is always in motion, following the ball with an impressive agility, her feet never ceasing to move as she anticipates each play. In addition to her perpetual movement, Morgan possesses remarkable speed and discipline in her defense, ensuring she gets into the right position as quickly as possible while maintaining keen awareness of the ball's trajectory. Her natural instincts as a hustler shine through, as she fully understands that the action doesn't stop until the whistle blows; the ball has to be kept in play at all costs. Throughout the game, she made several game-changing saves, exhibiting her dedication by sacrificing her body to dive for the ball and prevent it from hitting the ground. Morgan's tenacity and relentless work ethic not only inspire her teammates but also intimidate her opponents, making her an invaluable asset on the court.     I was very impressed watching Avery dominate in the back court during the intense match. She is incredibly disciplined in her defensive strategies and her ability to cover extensive ground. Her platform when digging is not only firm and confident but also reflects her years of training, making her digs nearly perfect to the setter every time. She anticipates the ball's trajectory with remarkable accuracy, allowing her to set up plays effectively. She is, of course, another libero who embodies the spirit of the game, willing to do anything to keep the ball in play, showcasing her determination and commitment. In one thrilling moment, she chased down a ball that seemed destined for the crowd, diving into the spectators and miraculously saving the play, which not only energized her teammates but also thrilled the audience. Her excellent serve receive further highlights her skills, as she consistently manages to receive and return serves with precision, contributing significantly to her team's overall performance.     Chandler has one of the best platforms I have seen, and her skill set truly stands out on the court. She is exceptionally disciplined when it comes to creating her angles to target while digging and in serve receive, showcasing a level of focus that is impressive. Her amazing ball control allows her to handle even the most challenging serves and spikes with ease, ensuring that she can react quickly and effectively. Additionally, she is incredibly fast, consistently moving all over the back row, where she skillfully covers and shadows her teammates, always ready to assist when the ball isn't hers. This relentless work ethic and attention to detail not only elevate her game but also inspire her teammates to perform at their best. Moreover, she possesses great hands when needing to set the second ball, demonstrating her versatility and enhancing her team's offensive strategies. Her overall presence on the court is a valuable asset, making her a key player in any match.     If you're an attacker, you definitely want to keep your hit away from Addi. Her defense is really great as she creates backspin on hard-driven balls to keep them on her side of the net, making it difficult for opponents to anticipate her next move. She has a remarkable connection with her setter, and you can't help but notice how much her setter really trusts her, often looking to her for pivotal plays. This synergy allows them to execute complex plays with ease, showcasing their teamwork and communication. When Addi is in serve receive, you probably want to keep your serve away from her too, as her keen instincts and quick reflexes make her a formidable competitor. Her receptions go directly to her setter's head, where her setter doesn't have to take more than a couple of closing steps to set the ball, allowing for a quicker transition to offense. This precision not only increases their chances of scoring but also puts tremendous pressure on the opposing defense.
