A huge field of teams traveled to Lawrence on January 4, to compete in the Power League Pre-Qualifier for 15U clubs.

I scouted two matches before the winter weather was expected to hit the Sunflower State.

I began the morning watching a pool play match between [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='Power'] 15-2 and [program_tooltip program_id='491465' first='Building' last='Champions'] 15-3.

Four unranked Power athletes impressed me in the two-set victory.

Stay tuned today for two more reports from 15U action on Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='739193' first='Peyton' last='Heinrich'], 5'6”, S, Mill Valley, ‘28

Heinrich was my favorite setter of the morning. She was all over the court registering nine assists, four digs, one ace, and one kill in the match against [program_tooltip program_id='491465' first='Building' last='Champions']. She played junior varsity ball last season for the Jaguars. She is stuck behind a college-committed setter at Mill Valley, so if she makes the varsity this fall it could be at libero. Heinrich is interested in playing college sand volleyball as well as indoor.

[player_tooltip player_id='739195' first='Evonna' last='Sutter'], 5'9”, OH, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘28

Sutter had the top-hitting performance I saw on Saturday. The Blue Valley Southwest prospect finished with two kills, four digs, seven aces, and one block in the Power's win. She is a physical prospect who played six rotations in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='739192' first='Skylar' last='Mudge'], 5'4”, DS/L, Olathe West, ‘28

Mudge is a scrappy back-row athlete with a nice serve. She recorded three digs and three serve receptions. Her serve is more about accuracy than power, and it has some late dive on it. She has quick feet and made consistent first passes.

[player_tooltip player_id='739190' first='Faith' last='Schaal'], 5'9”, OH, Blue Valley Northwest, ‘28

Schaal shared playing time on a squad with solid depth. She finished the match with two kills and three digs. She communicated well during the match and would probably be a go-to hitter on a team with less talent. The Power played better defense when she was in the lineup.
