Setters Shine at NLQ

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Setters took the spotlight at the Northern Lights Qualifier in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the weekend. A lot of high powered offenses were able to click because of fantastic setters. Let's take a look at some of these floor generals:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>VCN's 15 Black finished 9th in the Liberty Division over the weekend with a record of 6-1. They lost their first match in the Gold Bracket to AP 15 Baden 21-25 and 15-25. 5 '9 " Setter [player_tooltip player_id='758622' first='Taegan' last='Weber'] has really nice hands and is always ready to make a play. A very aggressive and offensive minded setter, Weber can throw defenses off by her setter dumps. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She racked up the kills against Houston Skyline 15 White by one handed dumps and two handed deep court shots. Weber has great court sense and is always looking to give her team momentum by keeping defenses. She makes blockers second think about not going up to block her with her offensive prowess. To go along with her setting, she is a force behind the serving line with a great floater.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='521254' first='Kolbee' last='Kroemer'] had a fantastic outing for VCN's 16 Black who also finished 9th in the Liberty Division and went 6-1 over the weekend. They lost a heartbreaker on Sunday morning in the Gold Bracket to CVC 16 National 25-20, 17-25, 17-19. Kroemer really elevated Black's offensive firepower distributing the ball all across the net. Her decision making has really grown and she has quick feet. She too is an offensive threat at the net and is not afraid to take that second contact over. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The slide connection between her and Middle [player_tooltip player_id='773374' first='Nasya' last='Anderson'] was top notch over the weekend. Kroemer also has a great back set making Black hard to read as [player_tooltip player_id='516370' first='Delaney' last='Vohland'] also had a solid outing on the right side with kills down the line over the weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Continuing with keeping eyes on VCN still in 16 Open was 16 Elite's Mckinley Moser. Moser's decision making, calm demeanor and IQ make her such an outstanding setter. She is strong and can distribute the ball anywhere with precision. Her ball placement and connection especially with her young middles is fantastic. Mckinley also sets a nice back row attack as well. Her and [player_tooltip player_id='458169' first='Alli' last='Bornschlegl'] also have been together for a few years and have a strong connection on the pin. 16 Elite finished 7th in 16 Open and lost to FC Elite 16 Navy in a 3 set match 18-25, 25-16, 10-15.&nbsp; Elite will continue to improve and stock will rise with some new pin hitters on the roster and Moser running the offense.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With a lot of new faces on Nebraska One's Synergy, a familiar face on the court is setter [player_tooltip player_id='458117' first='Malorie' last='Boesiger']. Synergy finished 10th in 16 Open with a 5-3 record. Notably beating in-state rival Premier 16 Gold 25-21, 25-21. Boesiger looks to be back in form after missing the fall with a knee injury. She is so smart with the ball and has a ton of weapons to get the ball across the net and in the back row. With all of the new faces you can see the setter to hitter connection continue to grow and the ceiling is high! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Boesiger has flawless back sets and had some fantastic connections with right side lefty [player_tooltip player_id='458185' first='Emilee' last='Thayer-Mencke']. With big time hitters like [player_tooltip player_id='555495' first='Shayla' last='Rautenberg'], [player_tooltip player_id='445956' first='Reagan' last='Wallraff'] and [player_tooltip player_id='498907' first='Nora' last='Herian'], Boesiger can't go wrong with her distribution. Another one of Boesiger's strengths is her serve. It is a great driving serve that is difficult to handle and gets opponents out of system. Keep an eye on Synergy's growth and development in the coming weeks!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='458126' first='Ava' last='Waters']&nbsp; from Premier 16 Gold is also an offensive threat at the net. She has great court awareness and can do many things well! Love her competitiveness and positive attitude on the floor. Her teammates look to her as a leader you can tell. She had some great digs against Mavs KC&nbsp; 16 Elite and can also two hand dump to the corners. Waters also has a nice serve and had two aces against TAV 16 Black Paul. Premier finished 11th in 16 Open with a 3-4 record.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Northern Lights showcased a lot of great setters!
