Show Me Qualifier: Athletic Texas Middles to Watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>BID season continues at full pace and, with the USAV Girls Junior National Championship just over two months away, club volleyball teams from Texas continue to add significant mileage to their loyalty cards as they travel around the country to compete in National Qualifiers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This weekend, the destination for many of them will be Kansas City, where one of the most popular events of the club season, the Show Me Qualifier, is set to take place from Saturday to Monday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over 750 teams from all over the country are set to compete across the ten divisions in the 15s, 16s, and 17s age groups, and among them are several Texas teams. These squads count on some of the most talented prospects in the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to feature a few of them. She's not super tall, but has long arms and gets off the floor very well, which allows her to battle taller opponents at the net. Williams is very active defensively and one of her strengths is her ability to remain focused and quickly react to overpasses and setter dumps, getting many stops at the net. Offensively, she stands out for making contact with the ball at a very high point and for her ability to swing on the right as well. She's one of their options in the middle and is a player who can contribute on both sides of the ball. Choate hits a very quick set in the middle and is very difficult to stop because she makes contact with the ball right after it comes out of the setter's hands, which means opposing blockers have to commit to her. She can hit from the pins too and is very resourceful, using tips in the right moments to put the ball down. A TAPPS state champion with Providence Classical, she's a high-scoring middle, who can carry her team's offense and delivers in moments of pressure. Pyle can hit any sets in the middle with tremendous efficiency, but is often unstoppable when fed the shoot set, as she typically gets a big bounce in that play. She's an extremely physical middle, who has all the tools to challenge anyone at the net with her power and range. Carr is extremely valuable on the defensive side of the game as she provides her team with a massive blocking presence that makes the lives of defenders playing behind her much easier. Over the last couple of years, she started reading the game better and that further potentialized her blocking effectiveness.
