2027 Rankings Top Ten Check-In; Let's Go Middles!

Williams remains the top prospect in our rankings list for 2027 and leads a very good crop of middles that, right now, is the most impressive position overall in this class. At this phase of her career she has such a promising future as she continues to develop into an even more dominating presence in the middle at the 16U level. Her length and athleticism alone are impressive but as this team is using her in more dynamic ways offensively that work often stretches a defense in how they defend and try to contain the various ways she attacks the ball.     Meyer (*pictured) assumes the #2 spot overall. Her effort this club season is more complete and polished all around, perhaps a product of the move she made to compete for Legacy in Michigan this club cycle. She is a primary factor for a 16U team that will compete well on the national stage later this year. Her skill set as a 6'2 six-rotation prospect are developing very well in her ability to pass, defend, and swing through a varied offense that has great tempo and can create a lot of space for her touch point and range to be terminal.     Although dropping one spot this rankings cycle, Forrest has been a mainstay near the top of this list for the 2027 class from the jump. She entered with noticeable polish to her game and that has not changed. As one of five middles in this current top 10, what is more identifiable now in her game is that she has grown her impact offensively away from the middle at times to also be terminal on the right side with high contact and good movement from her arm. As the depth of her impact is still from the middle, this team can feature her in different ways that expands her points scoring opportunities.     Another dynamic prospect making an upward shift this rankings cycle, Ramsdell-Washington also made the move to compete with Legacy this club season, which has paid big dividends in her action overall. As a middle, she looks more confident and assertive in all phases of her game on both sides of the ball. An athletic prospect, her movement laterally and in her approach patterns is becoming more fluid and efficient which is increasing her overall impact. This progress has been fun to watch develop given the earlier identification in her development ceiling.     Mortimer rises into the top 10 this cycle and helps to solidify this Ohio class as one with some high quality middle prospects. She is impressive in using her length and quickness to score and defend. On the defensive side, she has good patience in reading the play development as she can close down pin hitters with a big first step and quick action off the floor. Offensively, she can be a handful. She is consistently set through multiple options and one of her best offensive assets is her ability to find space and control her arm to swing those directions with good results.     Moeddel is another middle in the top 10 of this rankings cycle, and one that has great tools that showcase her terminal ability on offense and an impact quality to through her blocking mechanics and effort in that phase. A noticeable aspect in her game is her extension in the air, whether through her high elbow contact above the net on offense or in how she can get up quickly and press well across the tape on defense. She is athletic and quick and her offensive range is is a product of that as it is extensive in how she can score through various options and approach patterns around her setter.     The 6'0 Zgonc has one of the heaviest arms in this class as a pin hitter. Aside from her offense, she can contribute in other areas with great skill and impact, making her a complete prospect and a big reason she deserves the attention as such. With impressive offensive range, she is relentless in her aggressiveness at the point of contact with the ability to find gaps or overpower well formed blocks.
