This club season has more small-town representation than ever.

Our Nebraska 2028 watch list update included new additions from across the Great Plains Region. We had our share of athletes from the major metro areas, but small-town standouts were also well represented among the 90 new names. As club participation keeps soaring in rural areas, Nebraska's hidden gems will have an escalating stake in our player database.

Let's give a nod to a few of those additions here.

Aurora High School keeps churning out underclassmen to keep on our radar. Anson has been a tremendously effective left-side hitter for [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Black during the team's fruitful qualifier tour. She brings enough power to slug through opposing blockers and also knows when to score with finesse. Anson and her squad will prep for a pivotal postseason push this summer, where more 15 Black athletes can cement their stock-riser status.

The Backemeyer name will loom large at Elmwood-Murdock for years to come. We've watched this spectacular freshman flourish as a setter-opposite hybrid for Nebraska Juniors 15 Black. Backemeyer has the rare ability to distribute an offense and be a takeover attacker in the front row. It's hard to miss that versatility.

Adams Central High School has a storied history of high-impact middle blockers, and South Central NE is capitalizing on it, too. Barber made several varsity appearances last fall, leading to another exceptional 2025 campaign with South Central NE 15 Black. This group is GJNC-bound after another triumph at Kansas City's Show Me Qualifier.

Success at Nebraska Elite and Fremont High School has gone hand-in-hand for as long as we can remember. Brandt carries on this tradition with her multi-position prowess for Nebraska Elite 15 Koa. This freshman has logged reps at multiple positions, including setter and DS. However, we've also seen Brandt wield her quick right arm as a six-rotation opposite. Her positional designation will remain fluid as another high school season approaches.

Club Legacy has made waves at the 15s level after hoisting a championship trophy at the Show Me Qualifier. Hansborough has contributed to this effort with extraordinary physicality and effort at the middle blocker spot. This multi-sport athlete closes blocks effectively and has made massive strides as an in-system attacker. The grind will not stop through the summer months.

We're getting Nebraska D-League in the mix with one of its do-everything athletes from the Class of 2028. Kreikemeier racked up triple-digit kills and over three digs per set for Guardian Angels Central Catholic last fall. Her wide-ranging influence has carried into the club season, making Kreikemeier a six-rotation force on the small-town scene.

South Central NE strikes again. Myers joins the list after a successful freshman debut with Fillmore Central and more breakthroughs with South Central NE 15 Red. She's a game-changing defensive specialist with a knack for handling first contacts in serve-receive. We might also see Myers expand her attacking role, so look for her to rewrite some narratives this fall.

Freeman High School's resurgent program gets on the board with this [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] star. Otto has been a clutch performer for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 15 Titanium this year, even as the team faced elite competition in the Open division. This left-side hitter was especially dominant during 15 Titanium's trip to Chicago for the Windy City Qualifier. This busy schedule will prepare Otto for whatever is next on this fall's small-town circuit.

Peterson joins a long list of Seward athletes who have found club success at [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE']. This explosive attacker has worked alongside Otto to form an unstoppable left-side duo for 15 Titanium. Peterson still finds ways to score even if opposing teams try to disrupt her rhythm with targeted serves. [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE']'s collection of small-town standouts bodes well for future parity in the 2028 class.

Seward gets another entry as we circle back to the [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] gym. Weber helps dish the offense for 15 Black and can play a frontcourt opposite role whenever needed. Her athleticism can also yield reps in a 5-1 offense, giving 15 Black infinite lineup options. We're eager to see which combinations work best for Weber and her team this summer.
