I watched a lot of 16U volleyball in Iowa this club season. The scouting included gold bracket play at the Iowa Regional, which proved to be deep and competitive.

Here are a half dozen student-athletes that have lifted their games this club campaign and looked poised for production this coming prep season:

I first scouted Rambler last club season when she was playing with CIA. I watched her again during the prep season and saw her twice during this club campaign. Ramler keeps improving. She recorded 117 kills (.316) and 54.0 blocks as a sophomore on the varsity in 2024. Ramler proved she'd be a factor in the MVC for the next two years. This winter and spring, she has mixed in more hitting from the opposite pin, looking comfortable at the position. That versatility and upside make Ramler a prospect on the rise.

Tegeler authored a strong sophomore season at Northeast last year. She led the Rebels with 207 kills (.242), and added 168 digs and 44.0 blocks. Tegeler has carried that momentum into the club campaign for a talented Select outfit. A bit undersized for a pin, she makes up for it with explosion off of the court and leaping ability. Tegeler generates a lot of power with her swing. She does nice job adjusting to the placement of the set and doesn't try to do too much in the attack.

Piper appeared in only about half of the Mustangs' varsity matches a year ago. In them, she contributed 32 kills, 17 digs and 9.0 blocks. It seems likely those statistics will spike in 2025. Piper has worked hard on her game and faced strong competition throughout this club campaign. The left-hander leaps well and generates power with her swing. Piper has a good feel for the block and alters a lot of attacks she doesn't get. She's increased her consistency and looks poised for an exciting junior season.

Hagstrom saw time on the Prairie Hawk varsity last season and those reps should increase significantly in 2025. Hagstrom has made sizable strides this club season, expanding her game and becoming more consistent. Versatility is a strength, Hagstrom displaying the makings of a six-rotation contributor for Prairie. She's athletic with lateral quickness, jumping ability and improving skills. Hagstrom has the look of a breakout candidate for this prep season.

I saw Olsen for the first time at the 2025 Iowa Regional and left the gym impressed. Although a little undersized for a front-row player, Olsen gets the job done thanks to excellent athleticism and jumping ability. Ohana utilizes her mainly on the opposite side but her skill set allows her to make plays in the middle or outside. That versatility could get her in the rotation for what should be the Class 5A favorite Wolves. She operated on Northwest's top JV squad last season and took a step forward.

Minteer has shined as a six-rotation performer on a very solid CIA team this club season. She was slightly better in the back row when I saw her at the 2025 Iowa Regionals, but she also impressed with her swing from the pin. Her position flexibility is a result of her athletic ability, explosiveness and quickness. She slides her feet and moves fluidly in the back row. She rises above the net and attacks with gusto as well. Minteer helped the Tigers reach the state tournament with 212 kills, 66 digs and 14.0 blocks as a sophomore. She be one of the best all-around players in 2A for 2025.
