Marcum (pictured) benefitted from some varsity experience last year and has picked it up several notches during club and summer seasons. Marcum gives the team a solid option in the middle. Marcum takes hard swings on balls and is a solid blocker. Marcum will draw double blocks in the middle, which opens things up for Ashland's powerful outside hitters. Marcum said a combination of good personalities and a good coach will lead the team to continued success coming off a 64th District and 16th Region title.

Reed produced at all six spots for the Eagles. She has a sound writst snap, especially on her line hits. Reed is not afraid to use her off hand to catch defenders off-guard. Reed also controls the net well. That included some big blocks on Wolfe County standout [player_tooltip player_id='212195' first='Naoma' last='Noble']. Reed said the Johnson Central team chemistry is great, noting that she and her teammates care about each other.

Stephens produces at both the pints and middle for the Wolves. Stephens smacks balls through and around blocks to the ground and recovers well on blocked balls. Her vertical will especially come in handy once the team is back at full strength.

Duncan moved into the area from Mercer County and hopes to provide a spark for the Eagles at setter this fall. Duncan does a variety of sets to get a number of talented hitters involved, including the back set. Duncan credits her teammates for being very welcoming, allowing her to get to know their power zones.

Johnson's versatility, especially as a lefty, could come in handy for the Kats this fall. Johnson executes a variety of short and long sets including the back set. Johnson makes sound out of system sets. Johnson throws opponents off with her tough serves. Her experience helps give the Kats the option of running the 6-2 attack.

Price started at libero all last season and only hopes to build on that experience. Price patrols the back row with authority, doing what she can to jump start the Shelby Valley attack. Price said she's been focusing on moving her feet better, talking more and learning how to angle balls better during club and on into the summer.
