I had the privilege of attending the SoCal PrepDig Sophomore ID Camp, hosted at Prime Volleyball Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. One of the most rewarding aspects of this event was watching the on-site coaches select their own MVPs, players who stood out not just for their athletic abilities, but for the complete package they brought to the court.

Each coach evaluated players firsthand, observing more than just stats or standout plays. They paid close attention to communication, coachability, hustle, and the subtle ways athletes elevated those around them.

This process closely mirrors how college coaches scout talent. It's not always about who jumps the highest or hits the hardest. It's about finding players with a rare blend of skill, work ethic, and character, the kind of presence that leaves a lasting impression.

What made this MVP selection so meaningful was the freedom each coach had to define what excellence looked like. For some, it was leadership and vocal presence. For others, it was resilience, relentless effort, or the ability to make an impact without even touching the ball.

Off the court, Tess is known for her outgoing, bubbly personality and deep sense of empathy.
