💡 How would you describe your role on the court, and what do you do to elevate the players around you?
As a libero, my role is to lead through execution and communication. I elevate my teammates by encouraging them and staying consistent with both my play and my voice. That reliability helps others focus on their own roles, knowing they can count on me.

🧠 In high-pressure moments, what’s your mindset and how do you stay composed?
I like to mentally run through my cues for each skill. For example, when serving, I focus on my toss, my eyesight, and my contact. On defense, I remind myself about footwork and positioning. I stay composed by not taking things personally or getting overly emotional. I care about winning and I put in the work, but I don’t let mistakes control me. I use controlled frustration as fuel to push myself toward better results.

💪🏽 What’s something specific you’ve been working to add to your game this season, and why?
I’ve been working on communicating more. Volleyball is a team sport, and being a good player is only part of it. If the team can’t communicate, it’s hard to get solid results.

🌟 Off the court, how would your coaches and teammates describe you, and what personal qualities do you bring to a team culture?
I think they would describe me as stable and neutral. I stay calm even when I make mistakes and can usually help settle others down too. I don’t take things personally, and I’m empathetic with my words. If talking doesn’t help, I use my play to lighten the load by taking more space and covering seams. I’m also cheerful. Even if I’m tired, I’m always in a good mood and ready to hype someone up for a great play.

💥 What’s a fun fact about you that you’d want college coaches to know?
Soccer was my first sport. I started playing at age four and was an attacking striker.

Sade Devine Sade Devine 5'4" | DS/L Brentwood School | 2028 State CA , a libero, left the SCVC and Mizuno Long Beach College Camp with a sharper understanding of how to lead out of system and support her teammates through smart decision-making. One lesson that stuck with her came during a drill where a coach reminded players that a high, inside set, regardless of perfection, can still give the hitter a chance. “When I went to practice the next day, I started setting my outsides more inside, and they were able to hit from my set. They had struggled to do so before,” she shared. Whether it was helping her hitters get more swings or saving a shanked ball 30 feet away during a scrimmage, Sade took pride in her ability to adjust, follow through, and keep her team supported.

One of her most memorable moments came during a competitive serve receive game in the libero group, where teams could only earn points off perfect or near-perfect passes. Her team finished with 22 points while others had only five or seven. “All the girls were so amazing and supportive, so definitely shoutout to my lucky group 3!” she shared. Looking ahead, Sade is focused on building her volleyball IQ and becoming a leader who can direct and support her team in all phases of the game. “Defense is a mindset and what wins games. Sade Devine Sade Devine 5'4" | DS/L Brentwood School | 2028 State CA , a 2028 libero from Brentwood and Actyve 15 Adidas, saw her invitation to the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event as motivation to keep pushing her limits. She appreciated the chance to train with a high-level group and hopes to continue her development this summer at Libero College. Coach Chris Austin left a strong impression on her with his unique coaching style, mindset-focused approach, and encouragement across all positions. His support, even including a book he wrote, has helped her grow both mentally and technically.

Despite coming off a long tournament weekend, Sade rose to the occasion, proving her endurance and love for competition. She hopes college coaches notice her focus, speed, grit, and calm presence under pressure. She prides herself on staying composed while supporting her teammates, and she brings strong energy throughout every match. Sade really impressed with her out-of-system setting, always keeping her form clean and delivering the ball with great height. She’s quick to react and made some key saves throughout six-on-six competitions, showing off her defensive instincts and helping keep her squad in rallies.
