After almost eight months of intense action around the country, the club volleyball season came to an end two weeks ago, with the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship taking place in Dallas.

The prospects from Texas won't, however, have a lot of time to breathe and relax after defending their club teams, as, in just over a month, on August 11, the high school volleyball season is about to begin in the Lone Star State, with the first matches of the University Interscholastic Legue (UIL) being held.

As in the past years, Prep Dig Texas will continue to follow the action closely in the Houston area, attending multiple matches every week and providing comprehensive coverage, with analysis, photos and social media posts from each of them.

It should be another exciting season, filled with highly-contested matches and strong individual performances, and, before August 11 arrives, we'll preview each district in the Houston area so you know exactly what to expect from each team competing:

District 20

Alief Elsik

Alief Elsik finished last in the district in 2024, dropping all their ten matches and winning just three sets to rank sixth. The Lady Rams completed their schedule with nine wins and 25 losses considering the entire season. Middles Jamya Fields and Prisca Aroh, setter/right side Lena Mombo and outside hitter Alex Mopkins are among the players who graduated and won't be back in the upcoming season. Some key players for Alief Elsik in 2025 will be sophomore outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='828859' first='Iliana' last='Jaimes'], senior middle [player_tooltip player_id='819961' first='Nafisat' last='Ozigi'], senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='798837' first='Jackie' last='De La Cruz'] and junior setter Olivia Kim.

Alief Hastings

Alief Hastings finished fifth in the district last season with two wins and eight losses. The Lady Bears played 25 matches during the season and won five of them, dropping another 20. The team was heavily affected by graduation, with outside hitters Cori Jackson and De'Lisia Williams, setter Kimora Rodgers and libero Jada Strickland all leaving the squad. Senior libero Sydney Nollie and junior outside hitter MaKyah Williams will be among the few returning players.

Alief Taylor

Alief Taylor ended up in fourth place in the district last year, accumulating four wins and six losses. The Lady Lions' trip to the Division 1 Playoffs didn't last long, as they fell to Cinco Ranch in the bi-district round and saw their season come to an end with 15 wins and 17 losses. Setter Kearstyn Spears was the only senior to play a significant role in the team who graduated after their last campaign. Senior outside hitters MaKale Lee and [player_tooltip player_id='839493' first='Saniya' last='Williams'], senior middle Amaiya Wade and senior setter Everlyn Nguyen should form the core of the team in the upcoming season.

Foster

Foster took second place in the district in 2024, getting eight wins and two losses. The Lady Falcons qualified for the Division 2 Playoffs, but couldn't make it past the bi-district round, going down against Jordan, and completed their schedule with 29 wins and 11 losses. Outside hitter Brooke Barnes, middle Hope Jones, libero Hadley Holchak and setter Grace Gholson were the standouts in their graduating class. The Lady Falcons will have a strong senior core in the next season, with outside hitters [player_tooltip player_id='804694' first='Emerson' last='Lechler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='805639' first='Kahlen' last='Scott'], setter/right side Reagan Knipling and middle [player_tooltip player_id='376486' first='Zainab' last='Kareem'] playing alongside junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='762440' first='Sarah' last='Carrejo'].

Fulshear

Fulshear had absolutely no competition at the district level last year, ranking first with ten victories and not even dropping a set. The Lady Chargers continued to shine during the Division 1 Playoffs and appeared in the State Championship game, losing to Grand Oaks and completing their season with 39 wins and seven losses. They will need to rebuild their roster in 2025 after key pieces from the last few seasons, such as outside hitter Bailey Warren and Lauren Witte, libero Sydney Black, setter Alexys James and middle Yosola Adeleke, all graduated. Sophomore outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='694200' first='Jada' last='Skinner'], senior middle/outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='232845' first='Shaniya' last='Harris'], senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='486926' first='Amelie' last='Cross'], junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='438670' first='Arayah' last='Watson'] and senior right side [player_tooltip player_id='844346' first='Daisy' last='Voskuhl'] have enough talent to keep the Lady Chargers competitive.

George Ranch

George Ranch ranked third in the district with six wins and four losses. The Lady Longhorns ended the season with 24 wins and 18 losses after being eliminated by Tompkins in the bi-district round of the Division 2 Playoffs. The team's leading scorer in the last three season, star outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='238859' first='Sydney' last='Bryant'] has graduated, as did middle Ryann Farmer, right side Brooke Robbins, setter Caroline Dawson and libero Jenna Martinez. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='269819' first='Madelynn' last='Coy'] (outside hitter) and [player_tooltip player_id='720950' first='Makayla' last='Thompson'] (middle) will lead the team at the net, while Erika Gonzalez (libero) works on the backcourt and McKenzie Reed calls the shots at setter.
