Dawson Eagles

Since their first year as a school, The Dawson Eagles have proved to be a staple in the discussion of competitive squads across the state of Texas. This year is no different as they currently have a 31-4 overall record and a perfect 11-0 district record. They are led by some experienced seniors who are ready to leave their mark on a fabulous career. The kill leader is super senior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='254073' first='Avery' last='Koonsen'] who has tallied 373 kills on a very impressive .315 hitting percentage. With 234digs, 37 aces and 25 total blocks on the year, she is doing it all for the Eagles. She has some amazing help in fellow seniors [player_tooltip player_id='839573' first='Sloane' last='Ranney'], [player_tooltip player_id='538584' first='Alana' last='Evans'], and [player_tooltip player_id='318191' first='Keaton' last='Points']. These young ladies are scoring in bunches from all over the court to keep opponents out of system and frustrated. Miss Ranney has been doing this for the past two years on varsity and has become a lot more efficient raising her hitting percentage up to .238. When you have middles playing as good as Alana and Keaton are, it really opens up so many options for your pins to score. She is occupying the defense and keeping them from cheating to close the block early. Adding some additional firepower to the squad are [player_tooltip player_id='805227' first='Marley' last='Ifems'], [player_tooltip player_id='580021' first='Julia' last='Wright'], and [player_tooltip player_id='828455' first='Destiny' last='Lyons']. In the back row, the Eagles have superstar libero [player_tooltip player_id='530380' first='Jenna' last='Thedford'] who picks up everything. This young lady is one of the best in the Houston area and has been since she burst onto the scene. Setters Taylor Ranney and Alexa Koonsen are running a fantastic 6-2 offense. Being only a freshman, Alexa is learning a lot from her senior counterpart and has shown a lot of growth this season. Taylor is a natural leader and not afraid of the spotlight from what we can tell. This team has a lot of people saying their name when it comes to a deep playoff run. We will be watching them closely to see how they perform.

O'Connor Panthers

Down in central Texas, the O'Connor Panthers have quietly dominated and are currently 33-5 overall and 11-1 in district. They are led by super high-flying junior outside attacker [player_tooltip player_id='318145' first='Jaylyn' last='Tuiasosopo']. We have followed this young lady since her eighth grade year and knew that she was destined for greatness. Her vertical and powerful swing are known across the nation in the sport. This year she has almost double the amount of kills than her teammates. With 517 kills on a whopping .331 hitting percentage, this team will go as far as her right arm will take them. Five foot ten inch junior pin [player_tooltip player_id='826794' first='Madison' last='Libson'] has stepped up to the plate and is a solid second option behind Jaylyn to keep the fire hot for this squad. She has tallied 373 kills and is averaging 4 kills per set this season. Fellow juniors [player_tooltip player_id='826830' first='Jocelyn' last='Joyner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='299270' first='Olivia' last='Pena'] are producing for the offense quite nicely as well. If they get hot during the playoffs, they could be exactly what this team needs to surprise some teams. Olivia is the key. Her sure hands and ability to distribute the ball to everyone at the right times are what drives the ship. If she continues to make the right reads and locate the ball perfectly, this team can go far and compete with anyone. Gabriella Maldonado and and [player_tooltip player_id='806164' first='Addison' last='Hunt'] are doing a great job on both defense and in serve receive to keep this squad's offense flowing. With solid team chemistry and great coaching, we are eager to see how the season unfolds.
